And there's Italy. Impossible to invade Italy. This last turn was finally the turn where the Allies may have tipped the scales in the air war in the sea around Italy. The axis have only 2 NAV left. Still have enough FTR to challenge in the sea zone, but without much NAV left they can't do much damage any more. The Italians are still sailing 4 BBs and providing plenty of offensive and defensive shore bombardment.
In addition to the massive numbers of BBs, CVs, Trans, and Amphibs that have gone to the bottom, the Italians have added at least 3 Mech, 1 Mar, and 3 or 4 other Inf class corp in land battles in Sicily. The Allies have a toehold but it has been costly. Build Point losses have been at least 5 times what the Italians have lost in a series of invasions and counter attacks.
Italy is so strong it may need to send corp out of Italy to save Germany. Or at least have all the German corp that were pre-positioned for the fall of Italy may need to leave.
