OKW Intel Summary July 13 - 19, 1941 Turn 4

OKW got shocking news about a daring Australian Commando raid on a Italian strongpoint called the Twin Pimples during the evening of July 17/18. This raid shows how precarious a situation our forces beseiging the city of Tobruk really are in. The raid managed to destroy a large ammunition dump and several artillery pieces without the raiders losing a singe man. The loss of the ammo dump will be difficult to replace.

ImageImage

Our supplies to Rommel must be shipped from Europe to the port of Benghazi or Tripoli. From there, it is shipped by a single road called the Via Balbia to Tobruk which is a distance of over 1,800 KMs. There are not enough trucks to deliver the 71,000 tonnes of supplies Rommel needs every month. The supplies are pilying up at the ports, but the shortages at the front get worst. Now, the loss of a large ammunition dump only makes the situation worse.
