Nothing vanishes.

The game is capable of moving VAST quantities of res/oil/fuel/supply in ONE turn. The surplus always goes to the biggest port in a given closed economy (think Java). Thus, a starting stockpile of anything can move from i.e Bombay to Trincomalee. Why? In RHS, Ceylon is linked to India by rail via the Adam's Bridge. If Trincomalee's port is bigger than Bombay's, a huge pile (say 800,000 supplies) can be moved in one turn.

You have to check your railroad grid and be aware where your biggest ports are in given economies.

Didn't mean for this gap to develop. We haven't been inactive or fallen victim to att.net failing to send messages. In fact, we've been flipping turns with a passion, sometimes 3 a day! I've also spent my time doing the necessary business in college and falling over myself with laughter.
The Genesis of this glorious plan has a long and storied history. The enemy has been at the gates in Singapore for a comically long time. Lately they've been trying harder to bash the gates down. After a deliberate attack on the 26th that resulted in a mere 1 to 5 ration of Allied to Japanese losses and actually destroyed on of the defenders, I spent a little more time than normal analyzing the situation and thought "If I could sneak in a transport fleet to Singapore, I could save some units, including the Aussie brigades!" What I'd like to do with them is still a quandary. The Australian pools are a little empty. I'll either rebuild the 8th AUS division and disband one of the lesser Aussie divisions still on the mainland, or disband the brigades. Might as well do the former. a 68 EXP unit is better than a 39 EXP one. But that's for the future.
As part of my plan, I assembled all the transport in Soerbaja with an escort made of Houston, Durban, Marblehead, Boise, 3 American Destroyers, and 3 British destroyers. All the DD's were veterans of Balikpapan, with experience in the 60's.
After 4 days of travel, the fleet arrived in Singapore on the 30th and started loading the 27th AIF brigade. I couldn't convert the units in Singapore to star mode pre-emptively under the circumstances, so it would take 4 days to get them loaded up.
The next day I was surprised to find 4 ML's had spawned in Singapore, so I sent them to attack a convoy at Mersing. The results have to be seen to be believed:

Singapore was silent that day. ML-389 needed 4 days in the shipyard. What she got was something else.
Predicting some form of aerial interference, I sent in a Dutch Buffalo squad and the Veteran 243rd RAF squad from Batavia.

I was unnerved when I saw the fighters involved here. The combat replay relaxed my fears. In the first battles, the Oscars would damage the Buffaloes and force them to flee without killing them. 28 Nates, 1 Oscar, and 4 Dutch B339's were lost. 2 pilots died. The 243 squad got another 15 kills, with a pilot named Fisken who scored 4 kills prior getting another 5. He's in TRACOM now. The Dutch scored 17, with one guy hogging 6. There were a few more bombers that got through the weakened CAP:

By then, the convoy was loaded up and headed south. Meanwhile, a set of transports from Perth was heading to Batavia to rendezvous with their escorts: Danae, Dragon, Mauritius, and some British destroyers. By the 6th they were in Singapore to get the 22nd brigade out of Singapore. While this was going on the Japanese were launching the occasional frustrated attack. Forts are down, so losses are starting to become more tenable for the foe, and will only get better with the Australians returning to Down under.

Luzon:
The Japanese stack in Manila moved into Clark field because things were taking too long. They're starting to make progress.

Burma:
Oh boy, I've got big plans for Burma, big plans!. Will I give away the details? No, but I can tell you it involves building up major airfields at bases like Imphal, Chittagong, and Silchar.

Navy log, April fools:
It seems I didn't heed the upgrade notifications properly, and wouldn't you know it, now a large part of the US Pacific fleet is kind of, sort of...stuck in shipyards across the PTO for refits. And some of them won't be out until the last third of the month. Oopsy-daisy, I did it again!

Every once in a while the Japanese try to bomb Heng Chow, where I've got some CAF fighter units in training. The results are predictable:

Still another 8 days until most of the Destroyers get their refits finished.

This whole game was far more engaging when the front was dynamic. Now the Japanese are stalled in Singapore and Clark, so everything else grinds to a halt.

The Japanese are gearing up to fight at Lanchow, they moved 3 more units into Kuala Lumpur, most recently on the 15th. I noticed a unit in the empty hex to the south, so I sent a miniscule Thai unit down for some recon. Turned out there was a JAAF company in the hex. The unit tried to attack mine, but their assault value is only 9, and their weighed down by disruption. In addition the Thai unit only had 22 men in it at the start versus 575 Japanese units, which led to this snarky comment following one attack from the 13th:

14 men and two trucks somehow aren't wiped out by 575 less than excited Aerial support units. Nobody ever said WITP AE was an accurate simulation of small-scale warfare, Will. The engine is extending the struggle over 46 miles or something!

The unthinkable. A Nate scored a kill. Sure makes up for the 8 that perished in battle. The pilot didn't even die!

My hilarious upgrade screw up is starting to wear off. The subs were finished by the 13th. Those huggable American destroyers with 16 torpedoes (Gridley, Bagley) and the Porter class Destroyers finished on the 14th. In another 2 days the Fanning, Farragut, and Mahan ones will be out. So will Old Swayback and her older sister, [Witty nickname not found].

Jan Ellard ignored the complaint. Ever since the 19th Bomber group had flown to Australia, they'd only gotten dribs and drabs of war news. Their Australian hosts hadn't been very gracious to the foreigners who clogged up the Air fields in Darwin with unfamiliar planes to supply and maintain. There were more than enough of those. First had come their own B-17s. About 2 months later, American 'Hawks' were getting to know Australia. Most recently, half the Dutch air force was fleeing to the base. Not that the arrival of new planes was a good indicator of how the War was going, assuming a whole bunch of them would be heading towards the enemy. Local newspapers made outrageous claims about the war. If not the sinking of two dozen Japanese transports, then the implication that shooting down four bombers would change the course of the war.
So the Americans had found a new source of guessing how the war was going: enemy radio broadcasts. The Japanese wanted everyone to know about their victories. It was thus a matter of guessing what they didn't want the foe to know about.
There'd been some laughable moments. Shortly after the 19th had arrived, the Japanese had announced the sinking of HMS Formidable near a place called Jaluit. Then they claimed that 3 dozen dive bombers had been shot down in one battle alone.
Their former home base in the Philippines got its own brand of coverage. It seemed that American resistance was impossible, said one pilot who had calculated that if Japanese reports were correct, the entire native population had 'deserted en masse' and was 'welcoming their liberators'.
In February, it was predicted that Australia would be cut off and starved...if Japanese claims for ships sunk by submarines off the eastern coast were true. Their broadcasts also unintentionally proved the existence of ghosts, because if they were true, there was no way that any of the '2 dozen American pilots who fell like cherry blossoms from the sky' trying to strafe transports near Dipilog could have flown into Darwin that month except by spiritual urgings.
Then there was that which got mentioned out of the blue.
On one hand, the 'Homma blitzkrieg' had already 'sliced through' the defensive line in Manila and Clark field by Christmas. On the other hand, it was only at the end of April that Clark field was announced as secure. Now, on May 11th, Manila had fallen 5 months after 'falling'. The assembled pilots were not amused.
"What about Singapore?"
"Why is Mindanao giving you such a hard time?"
Ellard had already added his own quip to the fire. Now he could relax and try to keep his mind off returning to battle. The bomber crewmen been so busy laughing at Tokyo rose, even the Commanders had been surprised when their squadrons were upgraded to B-17E's. Ellard couldn't immerse himself in the daily mockery as much after learning of the refit. It meant that the squadron would be heading out to fight again. If the excess of Dutch flooding the base was any indication, it would be in defense of Australia.

The next turn is taking longer than normal to arrive. I shall provide updates on the war so far.

8 days alter, one of the mines at Bataan heavily damaged DD Matsukaze when she was sent in with some minesweepers.

After that, I started to get sneaky in Cagayan. I saw that PT boats could be created a few turns later. I snuck some AKLs from Java loaded with fuel over, and some M166's and 4 SOC's for recon.

The TF has passed near Palau and should reach Ambon safely.

Down in the DEI, I have evacuated most major units from Java. The 2nd and 3rd KNIL division, and several battalion-level units with 27 AV were disbanded. Kendari, Makassar, Ambon, and Koepang are outposts of a sort.

It was June 7th when North Sumatra was invaded by a series of fast transport TF's. While it was happened I remembered that I had Submarines Truant, Trusty, an Haddock at Colombo for occasions such as this. One June 13th, the horror of working torpedoes was unleashed the unsuspecting task forces:

Up in Manchuria, there's this partisan unit called the 4th NE Anti-Japanese volunteer army that was routed from it's starting place in the Korean mountains and is being pursued through the Manchurian interior. The leader is someone named "Kim il-song".

West Coast/Hawaii:
I though the March upgrade period was bad. I wasn't ready for the tidal wave of upgrades that came in June! So many ships out of the action. Cargo and Combat, too. Including Sexy Lexy and Sister Sara. However, I have used this time to get all their air groups upgraded to TBF Avengers. Wasp, Quincy, and North Carolina are waiting for more escorts in Panama. by the time they arrive I will have 6 carriers ready to fight the enemy. Before then, maybe I'll take the Yorktown sisters and go attack Rabaul. My subs aren't doing much, but the recon planes are spotting lots of convoys moving there.
In a belated fashion, I am sending more units to Hawaii to await further transport. I have also sent engineer units to build up Midway and the line islands. AVD's are off to Howland island because the port is too small to waste time unloading a base force.

I'm amazed I got away with it. The Carriers were detected a day or two in advance. When Perch attacked that one task force heading West and RO-65 launched its attacks, I thought he'd sent away all the ships and sortied the Subs in a clump as a last-ditch effort.
As for Tatsuta and Yuubari, those were 'only' 500 pound bomb hits, because the SBDs were flying with a reduced load. One thing that I found odd was that the F4F-4 Wildcats didn't fly escort. I have them using drop tanks and set up their objectives. Not that it mattered. I've got a TBF pilot form VT-3 and an SBD pilot from VS-6 with one kill each.
Intel now shows 8 Units at Kwaj. Weird. When it showed 40 ships in the harbor there were only 2 ground units.]

(EDIT): Upon further searching it seems the Bombers made their attacks at range 6 despite being set to range 5!

If your Nav Search or Recon detected the Japanese ships at range 6, your SBD and TBF squadron leaders likely had enough aggression to take on the additional distance. It's called initiative and all good leaders have it.

That's good. If they'd held off for the extra day the TFs needed to get one more hex into range that might've been enough for the ships to get out of dodge.
