David does not even have the foresight to realize I have been around a lot longer than "M4 Jess" on these forums...

I am done with this fool......

David would have to be important for us to continue this BS
and he is not...

And to quote - - - Ambrose Bierce

"The ineffable dunce has nothing to say and says it with a liberal embellishment of bad delivery, embroidering it with reasonless vulgarities of attitude, gesture and attire. There never was an impostor so hateful, a blockhead so stupid, a crank so variously and offensively daft. He makes me tired."

C-ya around guys! have to get back to some designs....
(I just hope they meet Davids rate-a-scen-o-meter! )

There are these people you know, who think the war never took place.. you can find them on your average neonazi site.. now we both know that the information found there may be SLIGHTLY inaccurate... so.. in defense of all that is dear to me (including the spelling of townnames in my country):

Go visit a library and look a little further when researching the history of MY country..

Geesh I never thought I would get this patriotic over a spelling mistake..

Edit: tracer, the places you name here do not share our alfabet. Chinese script and the Russian alfabet NEED to be translated. Nijmegen does not. It's perfectly easy to write it as is.

Mr. Cyricist,

I will grant that, after looking back at posts from emails from residents of NIJMEGEN, you are correct. But it is you that are out of line for suggesting that I don't have the intellignece to discern internet trash from credible sources. Check this site

http://www.bragg.odedodea.edu/DSO/Schoo ... _areas.htm

It is a US Army DOD-related website, and it apparently shows that a street on base, which is the HQ for the 82nd Airborne, who helped liberate that city, is named after the city.

So, although you are correct, you need to have more DECENCY than to catch an attitude over a common alternate (if incorrect) spelling, as Tracer suggested.

You are barking up the wrong tree. I spend a tremendous amount of time researching my maps of locations in other countries (my email list has names like Jerome, Vrolijk, van Engelen, Duindam and Dykhuizen in the Nijmegen-Arnhem area alone), just so that if people such as yourself, who are natives to the area, are not insulted by my efforts.

How much research have you ever done on something whose main research info. is in another language that you can't read???

And Jess, kiss my _ss! Why not address me as who you really are then!!?? So, you like posing as a variety of different people, do you? But you know what, my impression of your work would not change no matter who you are. My "respect my unstable elders" gloves have temporarily been removed just for yeee!

We share the same alfabet. That makes it fairly easy. Apart from that English and Dutch are related languages to a certain extent. But to answer your question: quite often, as I studied history to become a teacher.

Touchy aren't we? :D I was only pulling your leg slightly.. but for someone who moans about accuracy you should not measure with two different scales, as we say in Holland. That makes for a baaaaaaaaad researcher.. Down boy, down.. Baaaaaaad researcher! :p

I'm going to ask nicely once! Knock it off, this is not the AOW forum, we pride ourselves on good natured kindness here and experience. I don't mind people voicing their opinion but keep it in good taste. We don't call each other names or curse at each other. If you feel the need to do that take it outside to the AOW forum. I have yet to lock a thread that wasn't directed by management and I dont want to start now, or have to take you outside and whip your a$$es. So please stop NOW

Ohhh...Alright.

Sometimes threads can get quite old, can't they...
...and some begin to rot before they die.

I opened the thread to find out something about a very interesting action of WWII...

I initially added to this thread to try to take a concilatory course, not having the capacity or authority to make the chest puffing stop.

Is there a way to UN-subscribe to a thread that gets tedious?

yes, when you get email notification at the bottom of the email there is a way to unsubscribe. You can either unsubscribe from 1 thread (ie the one you got the notification for) or all of the threads for which you are getting notifications

Done doing what? What did I make so easy? That's a sweet gesture, .....really. What would you like to kiss? But making up assumes that I'll be around anymore. (wait..wait. stop cheering and get back into your cells.) I'm quitting this because the lunatics have taken over the asylum, not because you or anyone else said something so profound that you made me turn tail and run. Forget that! My mistake was assuming that you were just another guy who enjoys studying the subject (For that, I'm obviously going to have to go elsewhere). The reality is that you've already been corrupted. I'm punching out. Respond if you'd like. I won't be listening.

Hmmm.. I seem to have drawn a little bit too much fire here. And for the record: I wasn't the only one 'shooting'. I tried to relay a few good arguments in between the very painfull flameposts of me and others and made an attempt at humor, but obviously this was not appreciated by everyone. So, for all that I may have offended:

PLEASE EXCUSE ME

I really hate to see someone go, apparently claiming ME as the prime reason for leaving. I was merely defending a friend's creativity, having some fun & giggles and stating a few good arguments on accuracy. This is my only defense. If this is wrong, again I am truly sorry.

Cyr.
