The Soviets push back at Voronezh, but the big news is the UK finally takes Tobruk.
Supply problems are now acute and we'll just have to evacuate as many forces as we can.

At Voronezh we close a nice little pocket while mostly defending to the northeast.

On the Moscow front we only make calculated high-odds attacks. Again and again our total air superiority seems to be decisive.
Even though the pace is slow, it should be possible to cut the rail to Leningrad before autumn.

At this point I'm starting to wonder if the "infantry" strategy is actually fairly decent. I have so many corps that I can pull those that are tired back from the frontlines to rest. I have many corps in the West sitting around as reserves. And I've been able to afford a massive Luftwaffe. As soon as the weather clears we'll be going on an air offensive against England.
True, I lack panzers for proper mobile warfare, but I get other advantages.

This strategery can now easily be countered by garrisons. Dug in rifle armies won't be so easily hustled by mere infantry corps, even with airpower. Your opponent has made little or no use of this. He has mech and armor defending in swamps, for crying out loud.
It's a nice trick, but the latest patch killed it.

Italians are pushed back towards Benghazi. Luftwaffe bombs London and Southampton with complete air superiority. It's odd to have more airpower than the Allies.
But the main action is on the eastern front where we overrun the elite 1st Siberian Army and reduce the pocket from last turn.

Still advancing to the north but east of Moscow we are stuck. Taking a bit too many casualties.

The Allies retaliate, bombing Hamburg and Hanover for a total of 12 damage, ouch!
In a surprise move, the Soviets make a general withdrawal. This is the first time they do so.
Italian evacuation is going fairly well, no further losses.

We get 44 tech Interceptors. London and Southampton lie in ruin.

Northern front. I risk our paratrooper to cut supply to Yaroslavl.
This will have to be our last
major offensive operation of the war.

I think you are being too hard on Nirosi. Defending against a high-combat-value horde of infantry is harder than it looks. The currently "as many tanks as possible" Barbarossa is very light on infantry.

I think defending Russia was impossible, period, prior to this patch. I have been lobbying long and hard on this, and in fact Alvaro delivered the necessary change here.
But players have to take advantage of it. Nerosi simply isn't here. He's essentially playing as if the patch never happened. And in that case, yes, defending against your infantry horde is indeed hard because defending Russia period is hard if you play by the old rules. You have got to make use of garrison mode. It really makes a world of difference. Without it, the Soviets will just get curbstomped. We all know this.
I am more than happy to prove this to you once the hotfix is in if you want to make a go of it. Your infantry horde can be stopped. Perhaps even easier than the usual mech heavy horde.

I'd never try a pure infantry strategy again, but I'd be interested in trying to stop your panzers with Russia. So far, even after the latest patch, I'm not having much luck.

Italy loses a corps in Africa. Allies invade France. Soviets withdraw from Leningrad. Prague is strategic bombed to ruins.
Out of 4 paradrops, our fighters prevent one and I think damage another.

Nothing much is happening on the east front. Against the odds our paratrooper survives (for now) and we hold the rail to Yaroslavl.

Italy loses a corps surrendered at Benghazi.
Containment in the west, next turn we will counter-attack:

The east is mostly quiet, however now we see a possibility to cut the rail to Arkhangelsk.

We are forced to make some relatively low odds attacks, but in the end we destroy the US 1st armor and a US division that landed behind our lines at Rouen.

Somehow one of our corps heroically hold out against all Allied attacks. The Allies look tired and we overrun two corps.
