Not a lot happening, supply is way better now though. I should probably send my tanks along the Volkhov river to the lake I cannot spell beside Leningrad, I tried to do that this turn but a very strong soviet unit was in the way so that has to wait another turn where the same thing is probably going to happen again.

What turn is it currently, the weather looks good in the North. Do you by chance have Model commanding 18th Armee ?

Units from 4th Pz Armee rest briefly after fierce fighting in the luga area

There just might be a chance to link up with 18th Armee at Kingisepp and cut off a number of Russian units ?

Of course it will depend upon what the AI does in its turn and if you have enough troops, where is the rest of 4th Pz Armee seems a bit light in numbers ?

It's turn 8, and 18th Army just contains 1 Corp right now so I wouldn't assign model to that army. He isn't assigned to any army right now because I didn't have enough AP points, maybe next turn.

It might be possible but there is a river and swamps in the way and I would have to deal with a lot of zone of control too, maybe if they mess up when they create a frontline I can try to do it.

Finally making some gains after a few turns of just attacking whatever unit was the weakest in the line and not having supplies to do anything. Supply is connected at Smolensk now but it is not getting enough freight as I would like but that is probably a game mechanic instead of a mistake I made.

I'm going to cycle the weakest frontline units, put them on a depot and refit them until they are all at least above 70% TOE. I probably could have got more hexes if I didn't refit those 2 divisions but I'm happy with the progress I made this turn.

Made some good progress with a breakthrough with my panzers, however they mostly at 50% strength but the Soviet line in the north was just some previous routed units that had like 1 CV. The nearest depot is like 25 hexes away so they aren't receiving a lot of supplies. This turn I had a lot of breakthroughs in Army Group Center and South for some reason, I guess the Soviets made mistakes when forming frontlines.

Anyways, at Odessa I failed to naval patrol but I will try again next turn. I will send the Italian expeditionary corp in for more manpower and artillery.

How are your Soviet losses looking ?

I try to encircle and capture the enemy, can you show a screen shot of losses screen please.

Also how are your truck numbers looking ?

Anyways, I took a small break and I'm back so I will start up from where I left off.
T9AGN.png
T9AGN.png (4.04 MiB) Viewed 2609 times
Soviets decided to retreat to the outskirts of Leningrad so I just grabbed some empty hexes and created a small encirclement with help from 18th Army. I will send most of 4th Panzer Army to reach the two ports west of the Volkhov and reach the lake so the Soviets can only use 1 port for supply.

Along the frontline of the 16th Army, there is barely any enemy units for some reason so I guess I will continue going east like 2 hexes per turn.

Looking at the whole front, the Soviets have lost a ton of men early on but now their losses are decreasing and mine increasing mainly because there is no longer any big encirclements to clear. The total amount of men the Soviets have remained the same across the whole game so we still have a manpower advantage.

For supply, the game just send supplies to an intermediate depot and then send it across like 15 hexes to the front instead of just sending it to the depot that is the closest for some reason.

A lot of advances across the whole front, I have just been facing soviet units with like 4 defensive cv max and with air support you can route them easily. I don't think I'm going to be able to create a big encirclement anytime soon, just a bunch of mini ones. Anyways, we are now 10 hexes from Moscow, I think that's pretty good.

Also, the two panzer divisions I put on refit at Smolensk got restored to over 80% strength which was definitely worth it, I should do this with the rest of my weak units throughout the whole front.

I haven't posted here in almost a month because I was sick and too lazy to but anyways I continue.

1st Panzer Group advanced a lot this turn and of course was limited by the lack of supplies. This is happening every turn now since the AI stretches their frontline to get units to cover an area that I don't plan on attacking and then I can just send my tanks in another direction and repeat.
oddesa.png
oddesa.png (208.78 KiB) Viewed 2431 times
Oddesa was assaulted and of course failed. The Italian units weren't involved because they were still getting off the train but they still wouldn't have done much. I think it's worth it to attack to just decrease their fort level and maybe drain their supplies a bit.

Recon shows that the Soviets have filled the Leningrad area with a ton of units so now the advance has slowed to a crawl. Plus a lot of them are on reserve and will activate when I try attacking a weak division, so my best hope is to refit my units since most of them are under 60% TOE at this point. The rail repair unit has caught up with the front so I should not experience any more supply issues, but it most likely won't do much.

3rd Panzer Group is the only army that is making a lot of gains right now but is largely limited by supply. I thought this would be harder but I have seen other people reach Kalinin on turn 9 so I would say that I'm doing ok right now. Anyways I do hope to create bigger pockets other than just 4 units but the Soviet frontline doesn't have much units to begin with. All the units that they send out their reserve have like 2 defensive combat value and they make it very easy to breakthrough.

Close to Stalino right now, the AI garrisons major cities and the panzer divisions have about 50 - 100 tanks in them so I just have to wait for now. Dnepropetrovsk is surrounded and I think the bonus points will expire next turn but losing 3 points isn't a big deal.
oddesa.png
oddesa.png (208.14 KiB) Viewed 2285 times
Oddesa was attacked again, Soviets now have a level 1 fort and that means that their combat value is halved so hopefully next turn they don't rebuild their fort level.

Turn 11

I decided to do just post all the Army Groups all at once in one post now because reasons.
leningrad.png
leningrad.png (1.79 MiB) Viewed 2236 times
Mainly just attacking the weak outskirts of Leningrad, but there are constant reserve activations when I try to attack a weak division. One hex away from cutting off the city but Soviets will move a unit there I'm sure next turn.
center.png
center.png (6 MiB) Viewed 2236 times
Not a lot happening other than just taking free hexes. I have a habit of making sure I use all the movement points and taking hexes that have no units in them. It usually leads to my army being overstretched or a part of the frontline having like 2 units. Probably going to go north towards Kalinin next turn because that's the weakest part of the line.
south.png
south.png (5.52 MiB) Viewed 2236 times
Progress stalled because of supply as always so I will prepare for another attack later when it becomes better. In the south the Romanians are unopposed because the AI doesn't like to put units there for some reason.
oddesa.png
oddesa.png (208.26 KiB) Viewed 2236 times
3rd attempt at taking Oddesa, the Romanians are now on naval patrol instead of the Germans because they're probably fatigued for doing it for a while. Going to refit all the units now since they are not looking too good after 3 failed attempts. Also, can someone tell me what the things I circled mean.

Turn 12
north.png
north.png (1.66 MiB) Viewed 2165 times
Leningrad now cut off from land, less troops in there than I have thought. 4th Panzer Army will be moved somewhere else once I'm done with Leningrad. Oranienbaum is looking very weak, I can probably take it next turn or two, just got to cycle units to the rear so they can refit first.
center.png
center.png (8.26 MiB) Viewed 2165 times
I will let the Soviets build up defences around Moscow as I don't plan on taking it anyways. Hopefully I can take Tula, Kursk, Rzhev and Kalinin before winter comes. 2nd Panzer Group can't really do anything because I decided to wait until 2nd Army takes Gomel so I can use the double rail and that took a while and now they are behind. 9th Army and 3rd Panzer Group are going to pause their advances next turn so I can prepare defences.
south.png
south.png (4.57 MiB) Viewed 2165 times
The west of the Dnieper is finally cleared and Zaporozhye is now encircled. 6th Army is still lagging behind, Soviets have amassed a lot of troops near Stalino so I don't think I can really advance there. Dnipropetrovsk is now connected with rail so that should be enough to get the panzer army moving again.
oddesa4.png
oddesa4.png (208.54 KiB) Viewed 2165 times
After 4 attempts Oddesa looks like it is going to be taken next turn, been isolated for a couple turns already and cannot receive replacements. Plus their fort level isn't replenishing fast enough so they have that isolated cv penalty now.

leningrad.png (2.1 MiB) Viewed 2068 times
I did a little test(power of reloading save) and I need more units to be able to take Oranienbaum so I sent a lot of units from the other army over to help. They have to do a bit more refitting first so next turn probably. Other than that it looks like it would be very difficult to reach the 3 northern ports supplying Leningrad so I'm not going to try.
center.png
center.png (7.73 MiB) Viewed 2068 times
Not a lot other than refitting units. 3rd Panzer Group and 9th Army are finished with their objectives except taking Kalinin and Rzhev itself. The other armies will continue since I want Tula before winter and Kursk too.
south.png
south.png (5.07 MiB) Viewed 2068 times
Zaporozhye is now under our control so that's another 10 points and hopefully Kharkov, Rostov and Stalino in the next few turns. 17th and parts of 11th Army are freed up so 1st Panzer group can have some extra support. Even though parts of 1st Panzer Group had to move like 15 hexes north and have like 4 MPs remaining, the Soviet AI keeps making spots in the front where the units have like 0.3 CV which makes it very easy.

OOB and Losses

I assume most of my losses are just arittion or whatever it called I forgot but Soviets are still slowly pumping out new divisions. Enemy losses are so low probably since I prefer to breakthrough and take a lot of land rather than an encirclement.

Excellent depot chain from Luga to Leningrad, this will bring in a heap more freight and reduce the truck burn. Dropping as many HQs as possible on them also helps.

The AI really has Odessa stacked out, nice to see it holding.

Turn 14
leningrad.png
leningrad.png (2.37 MiB) Viewed 2016 times
Change of plan, I decided that taking Oranienbaum should be called off since there isn't really a reward for taking it, so now I will try to take the area around Leningrad and the port there before the AI can build a lot of forts. Most of my units are refitted too since the frontlines are so close to the depots.
center.png
center.png (8.18 MiB) Viewed 2016 times
Not a lot happening since mud. Kalinin and Rzhev are taken so time to build a defence line. I don't think I will try to take Tula now since I really need to refit all the divisions there for winter. Meanwhile 2nd Army will get ahead and take Kursk.
south.png
south.png (5.73 MiB) Viewed 2016 times
Close to most the victory points here except Sevastopol so just got to keep up the advance on all fronts. I abandoned trying to take Oddesa since the naval patrol got too fatigued or whatever so Soviets have probably refitted the units and I have to start all over again. I don't know if the AI is scripted to evacuate like irl but probably not.

Took 2 hexes near Leningrad, I snuck a panzer division behind their lines and I actually might isolate or take Osinovets next turn(probably not). Now I have to slowly clear out the area to the east of Leningrad which will take a while since progress is like 1 hex per turn.
center.png
center.png (7.08 MiB) Viewed 1982 times
Kaluga and Rzhev are taken so that's 20 more victory points. The infantry of 3rd Panzer Group will slowly inch towards Moscow, why not since the enemy is so weak. After Orel is linked up with rail I will go on defense and refit everything in the area. I really love refitting as you see I mention it everytime I post.
south.png
south.png (4.55 MiB) Viewed 1982 times
Made an encirclement that is not just 5 units this time, but it's still small. I feel like I'm doing something wrong with not creating massive encirclements. Anyways, Stalino has fallen and that frees up some units to help take Rostov. I assume the Soviets have a trick up their sleeves and will deploy like 20 divisions to stop me.
