• Removed code that halved the transport cost of units when being airlifted or paradropped.

transport missions suitable air groups (and escorts if any are available will be
selected). If insufficient transport capacity exists to move the unit in a single
operation then air transport of non-motorized units can be conducted in up to 2
sorties. If more than 2 sorties would be needed, the unit cannot be air transported.
Due to this recent change. Could you also change the limit to fly only "max 2 Sorties" per plane to 4? The Game represents a one week Turn and 144x Ju52 planes can't transport any Infantry Regiment due to this rule now.

Overall this rule change is something I don't understand since now you fly 50% of the way empty without any compensation, it was caused by a report about Stalingrad evacuation while IRL you'd have flown things like Supplies IN and Soldiers OUT of the Pocket if you'd wanted to evac by air. So now 150 Ju52 planes can't even transport a single Infantry Regiment within a week. Not even over a distance of 120miles!!!

Hi all,

Any chance the new version will be released before thanksgiving? (That would be today :D )

If not, will it be possible to update from the Beta version to the official release version once it its released, or do I need to hold off my new game until the release version is completed? Thank you!

If you get the beta, you can easily upgrade to the official version, and there will be no difference in play. The official version should be out early next week.

Joel,

I was sorry to hear that you would not be announcing another scenario pack. Especially, a pack with shorter scenarios sounded interesting.

I have to admit that despite that I am not part of the GENZ TIK-TOK demographic (more like B/W CRT TV demographic) perhaps an attention span for a full 4 years of 1 week turns across the entire NAZI/Soviet front is a bit much for me. :(

Are there any particular operations that you'd like to see covered in additional scenarios? One of the issues is that it's hard to make changes to the AI at this point (without breaking it), so any additional scenarios would need to be able to get by using the generic AI. That, and the fact that Trey is the only current designer of small scenarios, makes it hard to get them done. However, I've learned that surprising things can happen. We never expected a War in the Pacific AE team to build on WitP. We never expected that morvael would take over and pour his time into improving the original War in the East for 10 years. So, since you never know what will happen, why not put it out there what scenarios you'd like to see in WitE2. I'd be interested in hearing from players about this.

Specific to the Eastern Front:
1. Poland 1939
2. Finland 1940 (Winter war)
3. Yugoslavia 1941
4. Greece 1940 (Greco-Italian war)
5. Greece 1941
6. Crete 1941
7. Second battle for Kharkov 1942
8. Operation Mars 1942
9. Finland 1944 (Vyborg–Petrozavodsk offensive)
10. Assaulting the Panther line and the relief of Leningrad 1944

Just a dream:
1. Low countries and France 1940

I think we need a competitive 1941 Barbarossa scenario that runs from June 22nd 1941 through February 15th 1942.

Unless I missed it in earlier versions, the new beta seems to have designated the 6th SS division Nordland a motorized division. I wonder if this was an intentional change as I believe this unit was a mountain division throughout its existence.

Nord started as infantry, then motorized, then mountain

Hello Joel,

Here are the scenarios I would like to see:
1. 1942 Campaign starting with Second Kharkov Battle or Fall Blau
2. 1944 Liberation of Leningrad (Leningrad–Novgorod offensive)
3. 1944 Operation Bagration
4. 1943 Ukraine (03/08-23/03/43)
5. 1944 Finland (Vyborg–Petrozavodsk offensive)
6. 1944-1945 Courland pocket

Thank you for asking our wishes :)

Thanks very much, fellow players, for answering Joel's question to me!!! The truth is I will buy it if they do it, but I lack the grounding in the fine details of the day by day, kilometer by kilometer history of the war which many of you have. Thanks again. Let's hope that with your ideas and player research and design contributions that they will be motivated to do so. WITE-2 is such a fine engine (this I can assess being a retired software engineer), it would be a shame not to produce more content for it.
