I suppose you could always withdraw ships in Karachi if you saw the bad guys coming. I believe that's exactly what the British did in Feb '42 when Ceylon got hit.

ORIGINAL: John 3rd

In my game against Moses, he has done VERY well in slowing my initial attack as he detailed earlier.

The game I have going against Wolfpack is VERY different. He has retreated and fallen back EVERYWHERE. I have taken SO MUCH territory with little loss, that I am now contemplating missions far beyond what one might normally do. Of course, I am horribly over-extended, but I am now picking fights where I can KILL lots of troops and/or ships. Check my AAR: John II vs. Wolfpack.

I don't think this strategy works. As the Allies, I would fight every step of the way. Got to keep the CVs intact but FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! Any losses you inflict CANNOT be made up and you will get IMMENSE reinforcements...

My 02.

Agree, withdrawing defense and cause hurt whenever possible and not expected.

As far as shifting forces where needed and history - you must be able to react to your opponent. I thought the point of the game was to try and change history or at least it's outcome. As long as unrealistic steps are not taken (aka game allows stopping of UK if karachi taken) I don't think that is history. I have not had that defense yet but I think I could make a game of it before it got to karachi. However you should never be able to take the UK completely out of the war.

Well, another update.

I am putting up a very stiff defense in SEA using evatcuated land and air units from the Phillipines, as many suggested.

At first, they were assisted by whatever naval units I could "borrow", this stopped once the Japanese player committed dozens of bomber and fighter units. He figured I was up to something crazy in the area. He even sent some carriers, probably hoping to catch the stray warships and rack up VP's!

You see, my adversary, a more experienced player, always expects me to try some "crazy" stratagy in every game we play together. I try not to let him down. By getting him to put more than was ever needed in SEA, I was able to plan something elsewhere! Besides all this, the area is STILL holding!

What i found very useful in defence of Burma (early) was Z-force bombarding Jap LCUs along Tavoy-Moulmein road, and AVG providing a safe harbour in Rangoon (if KB is not arround). The only other line of approach for Japan is from Rahaeng, so the hex NW of this base needs to be defended strongly. It is, however, a good hex to defend since Jap LCUs have to cross a river to attack.

You will loose your force Z along with AVG in no-time against human opponent[;)].

thats part of the fun play Allies...you can afford to lose things. I always have fun using Force Z. A captain can never be in the wrong if he is placing his ship alongside that of an enemy one.

I believe Repulse was also scuttled..apparently the chappies on PoW were laughing so hard it transmitted to the radio onboard Repulse. In thrun they laughed so hard the damage control crews opened the valves by mistake....
