After a bit of checking it appears you are right. No3 sqaudron RAAF flew the Kittyhawk II for some months and the CO of 450 squadron RAAF also flew one. I have also seen a report that Billy Drake flew one. I still think that most kittyhawk II
Aircraft were sent to the USSR from what I have found so Far.
Good Call Reg.

After checking It appears I was wrong! However as far as I tell 260 squadron only had 0ne Kittyhawk II and as for 3 RAAF well I did say RAF not RAAF. As I said in an earlier post Billy Drake also appears to of flow one as well.
MJT
no, you said RAAF as did Reg and gavin (fochinell)...

It should be further to the S.E. It was a couple of miles from the E. coast

Agnone is located ~12nm S Catania, Sicily
the only loc mark I have to judge by, is Catania AF
if we need these to be places better, I am going to need a grid map

A Question for Hard Sarge.
In Eagle day (bob) will we see a Coastal Command order of Battle? I ask this for three reasons:-
(1) In the old bob days there was a Coastal Command but no squadrons were assign to it.
(2) In Coastal Command there were a number of Blenheim IVf Squadrons not the world best fighter but they were used to escort convoys.
(3) Somewhere in one these posts I seem to recall someone saying that Convoys maybe in this game.
If this is useful please let me know if you would like more information.

3 RAAF was supplied and equipped from British Kittyhawk deliveries to the Middle East - the aircraft were on British account, not Australian (hence no Aussie A-29 serial on 3 RAAF's aircraft, which all had British MAP/AM serials). And I do seem to recall more than one serial in the FL range (KH II) recorded in the 260 Squadron ORB when I was researching this subject for my MSc. The RAF wanted more, but supply was prioritised on the 12th AF, and as a consequence RAF ME could only operate one squadron at a time on the type.
Most of the F and L Kittyhawks went to the USAAF. So far as I know, the British actual got 126 P-40F's and 45 P-40L's after diversions to the USAAF and French in North Africa.
The Kittyhawk III's were P-40K's and M's, split between the British and Russians (170 P-40M's to Russia, 338 P-40K's and 94 P-40M's to the British in the Middle East, minus some small diversions to South Africa, etc).
By August 1943, the RAF were receiving P-40N's as their allocation of 50 P-40's per month under lend-lease, and that was the only variant remaining in production (although in game terms I don't see why HS can't keep a trickle of L's or whatever in production).

thanks for the info, that will help
yes, I plan on haveing at least
1 F, 1 L a day for 43, none in 44, when a unit upgrades, those they had will go back to stock and the other units can use them (how it really worked)
the Kittyhawk III will have no production, so I moved all Kittyhawk III units to be at start units, as coming in as Reinforcements does not always keep there planes
the Kittyhawk IV will get 3 a day in 43 (a little higher then it should be, but want the player to be able to upgrade the III's if they want to and there should of been at least a little stock pile built up already)
changeing to 1 a day in 44

Sounds OK, but why not make them L's and just have some F's in stock just for simplicity? I think you're right to keep a low level of Merlin P-40 production going for game terms after it stopped historically. IIRC some of the 12th AF P-40 FG's did get some P-40M's, but I think it's simpler to ignore that and level all the USAAF units on the F/L variants.

Game attrition is much higher than historical levels in most cases, especially with the AI playing the allies, so I think it's perfectly justified to keep a slightly higher level of production going and maintaining it at a low level after produciton stopped historically.

Well, as of right now, I can't really set up a stock pile
for the F and L, well, while close, they are still not the same plane, and we only have about a FG worth of L's in the game, but we start with 3 FG's worth of F's, and since they can not in the game be switched or used together as they were in real life, I want to have a little replacement numbers comeing in
the game has too many P-40s comeing in to start with, both of these models are pretty much dead by now, as they get shot down or wear out, there is nothing to replace them with, the production lines were making N's and those weren't used in the Med by the US
once the first unit converts to the next model plane, all will be well, as far as stocks go
and hopefully, the player will not just blinding start making changes, the F and L are not the same, and each has a area it will be better then the other in, the 38 will be a better plane, but, it has weaknesses that are in the strong suit of the P-40's

Yep, this makes perfect sense. Although why not ignore the L and make all the Merlin Warhawks F's for simplicity? If you want the lightened Merlin P-40 in the OB, it makes sense though.

I see the point; but I think some of these things aren't worth modelling in game terms, such as the HF/LF Spit VIII and IX - although an LF VB would be different.
