Good luck as you continue to grind down the Japs in Manchuria. It's amazing how strong they are compared to historical. Well I know you bumped them up considerably in the setup for this game but still it is impressive to see what they can do.

We didn't bump on Manchukuo at all, though we gave empire 15% more AV in total. My esteemed opponent has kept the garrison at minimum the entire game.
So this is an entirely stock ground combat, likely less on empire side, because he kept the garrison at a minimum.
He's not giving anything away for free either.

Obviously the first time I have had Reds activate, but I am at a total loss how the Reds could replicate historical results. we a 7 weeks in and are just approaching historical accomplishments.


I am open to any thoughts.

The game activates at the historical date, but it does not allow movement and positioning before the activation, which the RL Red Army certainly did.

It also does not give you the best of Soviet commanders, at least without using PP. There should be a shot of about 300 PP for the Russians to change some leaders in ground and air units.

I presume you had the original units training since 1941? That would make their experience factor decent, and all units should have filled out nicely with replacements "on". Imagine if your tank units could upgrade to the JSII tank with the 105mm gun!

Russian artillery is awesome - a few 107mm guns, but more 122mm and 155mm guns and units that can be combined into Artillery Regiments and Brigades. A few units have BM (big mutha******) 203mm and OM (oversized mutha******) 280mm and 305mm guns which are great for hitting troops in forts and for counterbattery fire.

I don't know enough about Russian planes to know if they had any good enough to challenge Japanese aircraft. I know they had a lot of them, and the pilots that survived the German Luftwaffe must have been darn good.

Good thoughts. I did the training. I have not done the commanders and need to do so. The empire air force is substantially enhanced on our mod, so I cannot divorce the impact of his air supremacy from Japan. That said, he has it. I find the Red airframes to be inferior. It is the average fighter gun I think. Rated between 8 and 10. Combine that with the lack of engineer squads, and airfield damage cannot be repaired with the alacrity the American's can.

Best guess, if I had more engineers, I probably could keep up with airframe attrition and hold my own.

Two major reduction attacks in Russia went as planned. Tsitsihar will fall in a couple days, but Changchun will take longer. A third siege, at Mutangkiang 11.42 will begin shortly.

Allied invasion of Tarawa will occur in 4 days. Ambon invasion occur next turn. Invasion outside Makassar next turn. Sub raiders should take first base on Borneo at ketapang. Sorebaya almost surrounded. Two bases taken by paratroopers this turn on Java.

Empire says Banzai and away we go into the KAMI era. About 200 kami's rained down on the Makassar invasion CVE support unit. I got 149 in the air and another 25 on AA, but the rest drove home their attacks.

CVE Nasau takes two kami hits and 90 total points of damage. Not going to sink, but she is out of the war for 3-5 months for sure. I cant even evac her right now because I am still unloading. So more attacks probably to come.

It was 2 Frances that hit the Nassau - and got a fuel bunker explosion.

Fuel storage explosion on CVE Nassau

Isn't the Frances a fairly modern plane? Seems like the Sen Bakus should be used for Kamikazes ahead of a bomber that has a chance with a normal strike.
Maybe range was part of the decision?

Frances has two engines making it an expensive Kamikaze but fast, and no torpedoes here? Do kamikazes not fly with torpedoes? Don't know. All depends upon the pools...
