****Escape of the damaged crusiers, Jan 9-10****

2 have reached Darwin but a Jap carrier force of some description is in the Torres Strait.

2 refused to go north. One made Bundaberg and the other is making a run for the Southern Solomons.

Minneapolis extinguished her fires and is ported at Sydney.

None are really out of trouble.

*****KB******

The KB moved Eastward toward Noumea on the 9th. We buttoned up everything we could from Noumea to NZ and sent transports away.

On the 10th, the KB disappeared and there were no attacks or sightings by carrier aircraft?????

Usually the AOs for the KB TF is held somewhere further away from the Aus. coast. KB going to meet them could look like a move on Noumea.

Holy Cow! A gain of $2.50 in just 10 years! Why, that's ... 25 cents a year! Just think of the cabin you could build with that!

(BTW - is M&M Enterprises involved in this war bond scheme?)

I don't suppose any educational materials are included along with this war bond drive? You know, the type that explains that a long-term fixed interest bond yield can be made effectively worthless by significant inflation in 1947, thereby losing the investor money? The quintessential "return free risk"?

To be fair, BBfanboy, it appears as though the war bond promulgated here is only part of a balanced portfolio. This portfolio, per the advertisement, also includes toenail trimming-fed hogs (pork bellies), tobacco and the subtle insinuation of prostitution. Now THAT's diversification!

I can only imagine one of those investments providing a happy ending. I would insist on being part of the quality control team, to ensure ISO 9001 standards of course!

13 year old SG III arguing with me about treatment of an ear infection. [:@]

FAM: Did you finish your antibiotic?

SGIII: My dad said I didn't need it anymore. <she has just returned from a week away..a blind rage comes over the older participant...he seems to be trying to control himself..after a short while the facial suffusion resolves..>

FAM: Look, you don't argue with Tom Brady about how to throw a football

SGIII: I don't get it.

FAM: Thus it is demonstrated.
