I'm just a gorn. We don't have as many brain cells as you rich kids, but still. Our brain cells are, on the whole, better than yours, but perhaps ours get tired quicker. Any ideas?

The actor's name was popularly mispronounced as "Max Von Zidau". It is "Max Fon Seedov".

Oh! That explains a lot.

I've been gone 2 weeks and the show has still not started.

What devious plan must be in the works.

My fault again. I'm still on 1126b, the beta version, even though I ran the 1124 patch. I should've known there was more to it than just that. I am not playing in the Beta2 folder, it must also be in the main folder and I have to get it out of there.

Any ideas out there?

I don't know how the beta would get into the main folder other than you physically cutting and pasting...more likely the icon or your start bar points to the beta folder.

I don't know if I should bother (since you've ignored every other suggestion or offer I've made) but you could always ask me to add the Beta. That would put us on the same page. [:(]

1124 patch failed to replace the newer 1126b?

Is it possible to extract the 1124 patch outside of the installer and replace the 1126b by hand?

Apparently I used the wrong shortcut icon to open the save Steve sent me (I got rid of the incorrect icon with the incorrect path). I did it right this time but I still got the link zone data differs error. I'll post in the Tech forum to see if Michael knows what could cause that. I'm almost certain [:(] the first turn I sent him was version 1124. I'll start the test over again an we'll see if it recurs.

1126b fixes a lot of stuff. In 1126b I only know of the "0" port bug, that prevents a port that starts out at zero from getting the benefit of naval support.

The patch needs to run on a clean install of the original game. You cannot patch a game that has already been patched with a later patch.
Create a new directory, install the original game there, patch it to 1124, then start playing with the turns.

OK. I'm clean now. No needle tracks. No nuthin'. Installed in new folder, patched to 1124. Test 1st turn emailed to Steve. If it comes back with no errors, schedule the brass band.

Now just to be sure we're on the same page, here's the settings I'm using:

Go ahead and delete the War in The Pacific.exe file. You shouldn't need that.

Naw. I figure he just keeps those files on his desktop for ease of location. No sense having to rifle through *files* to find one when you need one.
