The old war canoes got away clean even without air cover.
The Australian 11th Division is beginning loading at Sapporo for landing at Akita. They will land alone at first as a blocking force until the Aussie 3rd Division and various USA artillery and armor units assigned with them are shuttled in. The larger landings will be at Hachinohe, just to the east. The two together will cut off reteat for the Imperial positions at Hirosaki/Aomori and Ominato. At Hakodate, the USA 27th Infantry Division is also commencing assault loading and will likewise await other units to ferry in. The Empire has spotted the numerous assault transport convoys heading toward Hokkaido so I want to get these two divisions landed before DAW thinks we will land and at least cut the rail lines.

All enemy units survived being pushed out of the base. Our units are rotating more disrupted/fatigued units off the line for tomorrow.
We are starting a division and TD Bn across from Kyushu to Honshu into Shimonoseki, but I'm not sure if I will have them complete the crossing until more forces arrive. Another division and 3 armored units are leaving Kumamoto now to assist but will take a while to arrive, and the large force at Oita is still taking care of business. I am partly anticipating an Imperial withdrawal and I want to stymie strategic movement by rail. Various groups have been assigned to strikes defenders there but recon shows more than 700 guns present, which promises to be hard on the flyboys. When enough movement progress is made the B-29's will join in.

Salamuua set out for Kochi under escort but has been diverted to Kagoshima with its repair shipyard.
7 Divisions plus artillery have reached Gifu and will attack tomorrow with the B-29's in support.
The division for Hachinohe has loaded and will land tomorrow with 2x old BB bombarding, the B-24's in support, and LRCAP overhead, and a CL TF covering. The division for Akita has loaded and will land as soon as it makes Akita, but that will be the day after tomorrow. A 2x old BB TF will begin bombarding tonight, A CL TF will take up station at the target, a DD TF will patrol at sea, and LRCAP will cloud the skies. A second division is beginning loading into an assault convoy that has just made Hakodate.

It's great, and too bad it's at the point when it won't matter but a little. I would really love to shift some of the work from Hong Kong to the massive yard at Nagasaki/Sasebo.

Shanghai is a lot closer than HK and it has a good sizes SY too ... should be safe from Japanese air attack by now.

Yes, quite, and it's already full! I had a batch of damaged CVE standing by in TF at Shanghai until the last hols-out 'in the hills' were wiped out. The yard there (at least now) is about the same size as the Hong Kong yard. Whereas as Hong Kong was the only game in town at that point, it has a bunch more tonnage under repair than capacity so is operating a queue. It does have more naval support than Shanghai, though.

Received a transmittal from DAW HQ asking if the single division invasion of Hachinohe was an error - implying did I need the turn back to fix something!
I hope that's not portending that it got smashed up on landing, but we'll see...
