Busy turn as Dan takes Antung, Korea and Kluong, Malaya.
The ground action doesn't go all the Allies way as a host of Japanese Infantry units CRUSH the 23rd Indian Division at 91,42 getting a 342-1 result yielding 3,906 Cas, 71 Guns, and 67 V. OUCH.
In the air Dan hits Sapporo with -29s and does moderate damage.
Over Shimonoseki B-29 and B-24 appear without any Fighter Sweeps. They are met by 74 angry Japanese Fighters who chew them up. NICE!
The CA TF moves into the Yellow Sea and Dan's target fixation works quite well. ALL his strike aircraft flew at various ground targets and nothing flew shipping missions. My TF sat in the middle of the Yellow Sea without being touched. The TF splits in two and lunges at a pair of targets. We'll hope for success in at least one direction. Three Fighter units are assigned to aircover tomorrow.

You get very good results in the air during his bombardment runs, consistently.
From what you say about the raid in Yellow Sea, that was an excessive dangerous mission from embarked air strike - or did you count on surprise factor while his air wings involved in ground strikes?
Where are you providing air cover from???
And what the degress route shall be? Aren't you afraid to be met by killer splinters of main carrier fleet (maybe an occasion for an ambush from your side)?

Can we get an update supply level screen shot? Hit the "B" button and sort by supplies please. I would like to see where you have the most supplies at.
Call you today while I visit my families.

Of more interest to me is the Frank losses. This game has been a great example of expending Franks in attritional warfare against the Allies. I think there are 3000+ Frank A losses to add to the 3,000 Frank B losses pictured here.
with respect to your earlier idea about expanding bases, I doubt this has much practical application, but making sure that those far flung Japanese outpost bases (and Manchuko) have supply to maintain full VP allowance would be a better bet. However, if there is local supply and engineers present, building bases to gain VP is a solid strategy. I just think the supply must be a limiting factor on this strategy.

Yes, I think Dan has just done the math and is willing to take the losses in view of the VP haul he is getting out of his bombing campaign. He has little sympathy for his air crews as long as the job gets done...War is cruel.

Absolutely correct. Really, if Dan didn't mind -- too much -- the sacrifice of an entire army in Sumatra, then he won't lose a lot of sleep over the loss of bombers and their crews, if in the process they are getting done what he wants them to.

Oh, I know. I'm just saying that-in my opinion-I find this point of view appalling. Your / his mileage may vary. [8D]

Unless it isn't a limiting factor on this gotterdammerung. Then it's a reasonable way to go for producing a few extra VPs.

I'd like just to point you out that in last months air war has been in greater part defensive for Japan and over own controlled territory, thus I'de be much interested in having a look at the allied pilot pools, and relative skills, to see what CR is now throwing against John III in this respect...
a possible ray of light and hope for Japan.

The 8th air force lost over 4000 heavies in their bombing campaign over Germany and that ignores 15th AF loses also all the tactical air forces . The airwar in this campaign is much more comparable to the airwar over Europe then the IRL airwar over Japan. Dan really wasn't able to hurt Johns air force in any meaningful way before his bombers were over the home islands. I think his loses are quite reasonable considering the situation and the effectiveness of Japanese fighters.

Home from my weekend with Mom. Appreciate the commentary while I was gone.
Sent the April 17, 1945 turn just a few minutes ago so the depression my commence again.
VP April 17, 1945
Japan 77,136 +12
Allied 144,833 +539
Dan doesn't care about his aircraft losses. As was said above, he lost an entire field army in Sumatra and another in Celebes. A few hundred planes don't make a difference whatsoever.

I am sure he cares, he is trying to use them responsibly, but they are a means to an end. I suspect you care about your 6000 Frank losses, but you still use them whenever you think you have an advantage or are forced to.

Exactly can't make an omelette without scrambling eggs. It's not like Dan has been sending them on a long series of Schweinfurt raids. It has just been a brawl to the death in the skies over Japan, it was bound to happen with the huge air force John could put in the skies over the HI. Not to mention basically all the flak the Empire could muster even at the expense of his troops in the field.

I don't think it is just aircraft. I think the bombing and squad loses are whats running up the points. You might be able to replace destroyed squads, but the points still count
