I made a pic of Father Emmanoulides using Grok and I can't remember how to post an image it's been so long.

I had a dangerous run in with M&M Enterprises in real life. I boarded a brand new KLM Airbus out of Amsterdam. We get almost all the way to Iceland and the pilot comes on and announces the plane has a de-icing malfunction so we have to dump fuel and go all the way back to Amsterdam. We get to the gate an a van pulls up that says "M&M Enterprise: Aviation Services Division"

I used to live in CA in Landscatter and Seal Beach in the late 80s when I was with McDonnell Douglas. Everything to do with autos and driving was corrupt back then: the smog testing ("Well, if we run this again, your hooptie just might pass, but it will cost double.") and traffic school to wipe your traffic record clean ("If we end class early today, will anyone complain?") and walking into the DMV was like entering the Black Hole of Calcutta. Sounds like nothing has changed.

CapMandrake, I know you're some sort of doc in real life, but have you ever tried writing comedy for Hollywood? Your stuff is funnier than 95% of the crap coming out of that place back in the day, and probably 99% of it now. If you find a post from way back you'll see I thought you wrote for "Family Guy."

Anyway, good to see this AAR resurrected, if only for a bit, like the kid in "AI."

Gen MacArthur clone being carried by 6 Homo floresiensis native bearers on Flores Island. Why did they not feel kinship with the Japanese invaders? I think it was the lack of bathing rituals in jungle camps. I think Grok made the brows too prominent but the stature is just right.

One time a Coptic Priest (similar outfit to the Greek Orthodox but not as gilded) came to my office with his 10 year old parishioner and her mother. Two of them were terrified. The medical assistant had written down as a chief complaint "patient reports she can't see anything" She was a student at the parish school and, as the Priest described it, she was playing 4-square right before recess ended and the ball struck her in the forehead at which point she screamed "I CAN"T SEE ANYTHING...AND IT'S BOTH EYES!" The playground descended into chaos. The mom was there to make lunch for the kids. Everything stops. They call the Priest out of the confessional. He decides to drive her in. Her acting job is pretty good. She looks to her right and when you ask a question instead of reorienting her head to the sound she keeps looking to the right. The mom and the Priest keep switching from Arabic to Coptic to English and I am tapping the forehead of the 10 year old..."does this hurt....how about this....and here..........hmmmmmm". I do a visual threat with my fingers and she blinks and then lowers her head and her mom's face begins to turn bright red and she realizes she is busted. I let her off the hook..."I am very happy to say this looks like a temporary thing. Let's just try some ice on the forehead and some rest and you should be back at school tomorrow." It turns out she had a homework assignment due and it was not done. I was happy the Priest drove as he likely prevented a homicide.

Two weeks later she comes back with hand pain for a whole week. I check her hand. It's swollen and the 4th metacarpal is tender, It's a Boxer's fracture. Mom did not believe her story.

If you want to talk about cousin marriage, not to mention uncle and niece marriage . . .

A true story.

A girl would go to the lake swimming and she would scream that she was drowning. Well, of course the adults would respond. Then she stood up. Until the one time that she was screaming and no one responded thinking that it was a joke. She was not joking. Her step-father (I think that he adopted both of his then wife's girls) took very good care of the family plot where the girl is buried. My best friend growing up told me that. It was his sister.

Ah, yes, the Hapsburgs. You wonder why the kept going? Maybe all their body parts were getting long like that.
