And back in the real world, Port Hedland has received a cyclone warning.

It's about to be lashed by 100 kph winds and driving rain.

To the matelots it's just another summer's day at Scapa Flow.

Don't talk to me about naval tradition. It's nothing but rum, sodomy and the lash.

(And submarines are breeding grounds of TB and madness.)

**************Nov. 16, 1942(c)***********

Oz: JJ really, really wanted to get more troops ashore so they came back with carrier top cover.

At night, the Dutch boat SS 020 torpedoes the ZUIHO!!!!....oh.....Maru.[:(]

By design, although it was the first time in 30 game turns, a fighter sweep from Meekathara came in first over PH. 14 RAAF Beaufighters met 16 carrier Zeroes losing 2 frames to one Zero.

First bomber raid to go in were RCAF Bolingbroke and RAAF Mitchell II and Hudsons. One Bolingbroke was lost to the Zeroes but they did moderate damage to ground troops. Then some Beaufighter stragglers traded 1 for 1 with the Zeroes.

Next, several raids by B-24's, B-26's and B-25's doing major damage to the ground troops.

LB-30's went after Yamato and Hyuga near Broome but got no hits.

Next VII Bomber command planes from Carnovan go after the carriers, somewhat ineptly:

Oi! Why is the 3rd one from left back row wielding the wolverine against those in the previous row? Are the Wrens so back-biting as to permit wolverine attacks against their own? [X(]

**********Nov. 16. 1942(c) (Cont...well, I gotta work don't i?))***********

SouPac: Tanna fell to the first attack. There was virtually no opposition. I imagine New Scotland is is similarly "defended".

Hawaii: The Oauhu to Maui outrigger canoe race was held today. A wonderul time was had by all. Admiral Kimmel's canoe beat General Short's canoe. The Jap sub that has been spotted 120 mi NNE of Pearl every day for the past three months did not harry the canoes. This is a good thing because Pearl has no ASW assets other than aircraft.

Wendover Field, Utah: Colder than Hell. The Field Air Duty Log now has 93 blank pages in a row. To keep up morale, Cpt. McCarthy ordered the wind sock be changed.

Port Hueneme, Calif.: Finals day at USN CB School. 1,287 of 1,287 students took and passed Calculus 201 (Polar Coordinates and Infinite Series) and Physical Chemistry 401. Even a guy that just has his appendix out passed. All the guys there on sports scholarships even passed. Seems a bit hard to believe but I just work here. They will be off to San Diego in 4 days.

***********Tanna Is., 07:35, Nov, 15, 1942(c)****************

A green sound truck with grey pinstriping sits in a jungle clearing. On the side it reads "M&M Enterprises, Psyops Division". The operator depresses the "Talk" button.

"Muuuuuhaaaaa! This is Ensign McGoo. I have come on Spirit Plane. we have Spam, we have steel pots, we have Pabst Blue Ribbon from USofA! Throw down your weapons and come out. We have Lucky Strikes!"

<he releases the button and begins talking to the driver>

"Tom, I'm going out for a smoke. Drama major at UCLA and this is the best ******* gig I can get? ******* mosquitos." < He climbs down out of the truck and ambles away for a smoke. He dozes off with the cigarette still in his hand, propped up against a gum tree. He is startled awake by the loudspeaker>

"This Billy TwoFeathers. I am Navajo. Don't take white man's trinkets. Don't take firewater. White man speak with forked tongue. You should hold out for casino and not just slot machines either. You want table games, blackjack, craps too...."

I believe the WRNS Chief Officer in question is in regulation with WRNS, Officer, Blue No. 3S.

(S, of course, being "Seduction".)
