Many thanks ElvisJJonesRambo for your time and this intense very enjoyable game.
You did a great job in China during 1942 and was thinking that I was going to lose the Capital... but was able to hold periously my third line of defense along the great river south of Chungking until the last turn Feb 1943. The fact that the French did not surrender until August 1940 was important as I thought that this would delay Barbarossa. But I was wrong and you boldly attacked during April. As you mentioned this game was decided around Smolensk and Kharkov during fall-spring 1942. The Russians were getting around 900 MPPs per turn (Not a single MPP was lost in the USSR convoy lanes) and soon they were an unstoppable force pushing towards the West. I did really liked your defense of the Balkans and the Western Front, were the Allies were not able to advance beyond the small beachheads...

All told, the Allied strategic bombers level 4 were also decisive, lowering the German income to around 390 MPPs per turn, the Luftwaffe nowhere to be seen in Europe.

Yeah, I did my bullsh-t move of sending 3 Uboats to the Pacific, to join the Singapore group & closed port in South Africa. Too little & too late to help. Not a good move against Top Talent.
In China, I usually do good. I may have taken more earlier, but was doing the Pak-ho training. I had 3 or 4 fighters all Elite, ready to go. It's more ready for a nice carrier battle. Fighter's with 3-star and couple 1-stars. Jap(anese) were geared up. Against Top Talent, probably not the way to go.

I get obsessed with the training. Love having Ships 1-star, Carriers couple 2-stars and rest 1-star with those Aces on Mainland China. Agree, Uboats gotta do something more risky.

Also, I probably should not have moved over few Luftwaffe units to Riga. Key turn was lost chasing Royal Navy which wasn't must of a threat, only surface ships. I needed to toss the all, despite losses at Army Group Center's key road on Smolensk.

Good game, we will battle in the future. I liked your Dneipper setup, may need to start using it.

Looking to get back into the ELO games after illness. so prefer a player with a rating around 1000.

Not ready for elite players looking to came back gradually, can usually play 1 or 2 turns per day depending on the time zone (I am in the UK) and work load.

Will play either side. Usual house rules.

Pm me the password.

ELO game completed:

firsteds (Allies) defeated caesarmatty (Axis)

(this was the rematch mentioned in an earlier post)

An interesting moment in this game - the Bismarck was sunk in the exact place it was sunk in real life!

ELO game ended.

ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) lost to ThisEndUp (Axis) --- Impossible to win when Germans have Panzers +3 due to Spying Intelligence +3. The Russians are 1.5 levels behind in tech. Super Panzers cut through anything. I've lost my last 3 to 4 games to it.

Need more house rules, no more Spying & Intelligence tech. Game is over on it. I had a thread on it couple of times. Hamburger Meat and many win based on Tech.

Gotta say, that resignation surprised me. You were in a good position to take out Spain; Vichy was neutral and you controlled the corridor at Aquitane. Without reinforcements, Franco would have gone down quickly. My other units were all busy elsewhere trying to deal with the other naval invasions you launched. You actually got much further in our other game than I did in this one. I don't even have Rostov or Smolensk haha.

Hopefully Elvis will return soon.

Details on two games resigned:

Thunderlizard2 (Allies) (win) v. Elvis (Axis) - Very strong push in the med with Kriegsmarine out in full force and ground and air units. Brits making slow progress. Yugo about to go down. Would have been a tough fight

Thunerlizard2 (Axis) (win) v. Elvis (Allies) - Stalin has set-up strong defenses on the Dnieper with multiple forts and AA. Wehrmacht would have had a challenge breaking through quickly. Also plenty of forts around Smolensk blocking path to Moscow. Holding firm in China with two arty blocking way to Chongqing.

Would have been two battles royale.

New ELO starting:

ThunderLizard2 (Axis) v. EarlyDoors (Allies)

Axis Tactical Victory in May 1947
Axis held Berlin, Rome, Tokyo, Paris and Moscow at game end.
Allies held Uk, USA, China, most of scandanavia (lost Helsinki right at the end), north africa, Australasia and recaptured India on last turn.
What to say about this game? I was really happy with Allied position at start of 42 but my play got slow and ponderous whereas Thunder was focused and executed better. He repulsed multiple invasions of France, Northern Germany and Italy and took USSR in 45 and India shortly afterwards.
I was disappointed with the Atomic Bombs. I thought they would be war winning weapons but barely scratched Japanese morale.
Learned some positives from the experience that should help my play.
Congratulations ThunderLizard2, well played.

Hi EarlyDoors,
What was your starting position at the start of 42? When do you think that the USSR was defeated and where? Thanks. Do you have a pic of early 1942?
