Yep, but unlike Minnesota it will be in the 50's and mostly melted by Sunday [:)]. There things to love about Colorado. Especially having less yellow snow.

We used to do that to the garage in Northern New York. The roof of the house was about 40 feet up. No one went on that roof[:D]

Meh. The snow in Minnesota generally isn't all that bad. It's the -30F that is the most unpleasant bit about Winter.

The poor suckers to the East of the Great Lakes (e.g., Northern New York-Buffalo, etc.) really get slammed with 'lake effect' snowfalls that stagger the imagination. 12-15+ feet of snow in a given season isn't unheard of. That's 4+ meters for our international friends. Not only do they have to have the right roof pitch, but they'd better have egress from the upper story windows too!

Having lived in St. Paul, MN for eight years and Ft. Drum, NY for four I would would say both places have their charms.

For downhill: were there hills worthy of mention in Minnesota, that might be possible. As it is, there's cross-country skiing until April, generally. However, to paraphrase George Carlin, late American comedian re: swimming ("it's not a sport, it's a way to keep from drowning"), cross-country skiing isn't a sport, it's a way to get someplace when you're otherwise snowbound.

At the risk of violating the no religion clause I'll just say that I'm a Protestant. Which were generally found in northern climes. Not sure of the whole cause effect relationship there though[:D]

Ft. Drum is about as "charming" as ... well I can't think of anything to compare its "charm" to... spent 5 years in Syracuse from 91-96. IIRC '92-'94 were the three snowiest on record. Why in Providence's name anyone decided to build a city there is beyond me...snow in the winter ...and Triple E carrying mosquitos in the summer...or more correctly the time of year they refer to as summer[8|]

Leasehole property? That must be something British.

It's also in the USA, but far more commonly found in commercial real estate applications. Instead of a 99 year lease (as used to be done on properties--Like the base at Guantamano Bay) , you will frequently see 20 year retail leases. "Buisness site, will build to suit ". Or "pad for lease". Very different from residential real estate.

Since when do 'leases' have mortgages for the lessee?

About 800 years , if I recall my English history correctly. And don't forget that American real estate law is based upon colonial real estate law, which was ...surprise! English real estate law. And there are all kinds of other weird real estate entaglements like lif estates (where you live on the property fot the rest of your life , but can't sell it, etc.....all kinds of weird stuff still on the books, but rarely used. ). Thank God. Usually only reseserected for Real estate Broker licence exams and by real estate lawyers with a strange thing for....well strange things, [:D]
