Fact is I love all animals and they seem to reciprocate.

I recall as a teenager one of my brother's friends has an attack trained German Shepherd he constantly warned everyone to stay clear of. My first encounter with Killer resulted with his head in my lap and his tail wagging a hundred miles an hour. Brother's friend was incredulous.

I have a 'way' with animals.

Hans, you will be interested to know that my family, who recently lost our Siamese (over 20 years old), cares for one stray cat (got her serviced by a vet), and is now in the process of adopting 2 strays.

I am much more a dog person, but like most men in life discover, the women in my life must be obeyed.

At another apartment building, I as grilling some bratwursts and then some chuck steaks for steak sandwiches later. I shared the brats with some neighbors. A cat came by, smelled the meat cooking and reached up towards the grill. I did not want to give her any brats because of the seasonings but she did get some chuck steak. She ate the first piece so fast and subsequent pieces that I knew that she had not eaten for awhile.

I managed to hold her and pet her while a neighbor called the local animal shelter but there was no response. So she called the local police station. A cop came by and had a pet carrier. The cat did not want to go in there but she did. I saw her at the shelter a couple of days later and she would eat only a couple of pieces of food at a time but she kept going back for more. It turns out that her home had a couple of young children did not notice when the cat ran out the door. She did make it home after another three days when the family came to the shelter looking for her.

I had a tom cat that when he saw a chipmunk, he thought that it was dinner time - even if he just eaten. [8D]
