Jan 8 1942. . . .The Yorktown has slipped beneath the waves... After a valiant two day struggle the
intense, raging and out of control fires have claimed the Yorktown. She was unable to make port after taking a torpedo hit just outside of San Fransisco. Crew casualties were reported to be heavy and the four air groups aboard were unable to evacuate the ship before she perished. [:(] [:(] [:(]

Supplies and Fuel are still decreasing but I'm starting to import more oil into the Home Islands so it's on the way up. Slowly.

Jim has at least one sub operating near Truk. I have a PB that found one and chased it.

The Cuttlefish attacked on the surface and got a hit on one of my AK's and the ship display now shows no damage at all so I guess the damage control party fixed the damage almost immediately. I've got a PB headed to the spot where the sub last was so I'll take a look around and see if I can't find him.

There was an early day-time surface contact where some of the smaller Allied boats got hit.

Here's another Allied sub attack near Truk. I've got some PB's headed that way even as we speak.

Another unescorted attack on Port Moresby that had great losses and didn't accomplish much.

This is the first of several Clark Field raids none of which seemed to accomplish much. Maybe the Allied units are being disrupted or something.

Here's a replay of the last couple of turns where there's an unescorted bomber raid on Singapore and suffers fairly high damage but accomplishes very little.

Here's a raid on Ambon that actually accomplishes something. Things may be looking up.

The Dutch sank one of my little boats near Timor. I'm going to miss that boat.

B-17 attacks are hard to deter. B-17's are seemingly easy to damage and hard to shoot down.

The air war over Buna is still going on. So far so good.

I lost a Nell on an unescorted raid on Java. I gotta move a CV down there for some air cover.

Here's something you don't see all the time. A raid on Manado by some Catalina wanna-be's.

And the Cuttlefish strikes again, this time with four dud torps. He's got more torps though so I still need to chase him down.

My troops at Ambon had high fatigue levels ( 33% ) so I'm going to drop back to bombardment instead and let them rest up a bit.
