A real waste of an impulse for the Axis... [:@]
At least they sent out their U-boat force. Right?
warspite1

No, I'm not paying to much attention to the U-boat war (or any attacks on convoys) until the next patch comes out.

The final Luftwaffe ground strike - this time by a He-111 is almost as successful.

Meanwhile, in the Southern Mediterranean Mussolini tries to get in on the act...

...and actually has some success against the 1st Greek Mountain Corps.

Hitler and Mussolini together declare war on the Greeks!
Why they declared war on Greece eludes me. Nothing at all for them to gain here. Except trouble and partisan hunting.

All part of my Mediterranean strategy that went hopelessly wrong in Spain, but I thought I'd stick with the Eastern prong.

Just the two attacks this impulse as the Germans seek to punch a hole in the Soviet defences by establishing bridgeheads across the Neman.

Aircraft are brought into bring both attacks up to 4:1.

For the attack in Lithuania, Fractional Odds bring the combat up to 5:1 with a +3 modifier on the Blitz table....

...the result is a 6(9). The Soviets lose a division and an infantry corps, the second corps is shattered. I convert to retreat.

The second attack is a little more tricky. There are no modifiers and Fractional Odds do not change the 4:1....

...The result is a 1! The Germans lose a unit (no cheap unit either [8|]) and are all disorganised.

There is a 50% chance of the turn ending if the Allies use just one action. They go for it; the Soviets will move - everyone else will pass.

Because of the devastating nature of the ground strikes the Soviets are in a bit of a mess in the Baltics. Zhukov completes his rail movement from the Far East to Riga, and a line (of sorts) is formed.

The turn does not end - but General Winter comes to the aid of the Soviets. The die roll is a 1....

The Axis are unable to achieve much that impulse. The turn does not end but the Allies then pass with all powers to guarantee ending of the turn.

The War Appropriations Bill is passed - World War II could be about to start anytime now! [8|]
