I assume the large Anglo-French fleet wishes to intercept?
NO!
Since I expect them to stay in the area.

The Axis fleet stays in the Western Mediterranean and choose not to initiate combat. I assume the British and French do?

Indeed. They use a French cruiser to initiate combat.

Do you wish to bring any aircraft in? The Axis have declined. You have a Harrow, a Battle and a Hurricane.

No, no aircraft.
If we find and if it is left to me I will select an air combat.

I don't know whether to cry or cry... The Allies throw a 4 and the Axis an 8. Once again the Axis are surprised.
I mark all aircraft as bombers - what do you want to use your 6 surprise points on?

The RM have little choice but to retreat to La Spezia.
No Strategic Bombing
Two ground strikes are announced.
The Luftwaffe sends a Ju-88 to Odessa. A 3-factor Zerstorer can intercept. I assume the Soviets want to fly the fighter on the hex?

Right, the Ormster is offline so I will take over his decisions. I will fly the fighter on the basis that:
a) No point being ground struck for nothing
b) The Soviets have the +1
Air to Air Combat
Round 1 (Allies throw first)
7 - AA The German bomber is aborted.
13 - No effect.
I abort the fighter to where its safe but can still defend Odessa in future if necessary - to the has west of Evpatoria
Meanwhile north of Leningrad the Axis actually get a break! A ground strike works and the Finns manage to disorganise the Leningrad Militia.

The Japanese start the withdrawal toward Harbin, but try and push on west and north of Kweilin.
The Germans do a bit of re-arranging on the Eastern Front.
The Germans and their Finnish Allies announce an attack in Karelia.
The Japanese announce an attack north west of Kweilin.
The entire Baltic Fleet bring their guns to bear on the exposed Karelian Isthmus. A Dornier is also flown in support.
The Japanese do not fly.
The Chinese can bring a fighter in as a bomber to bring to odds down to 3:1 - but will they?

USSR use both ART and fly with the LND2 (Su-2) and escort with the FTR2 (I-16).
Edit: No idea what malarchy means.

In response to the Soviet response([;)]) the Finns bring in a Fokker fighter. This gives the Axis a +1/-1 advantage.

Air to Air Combat
Round 2
6 AA The Finnish Fighter is aborted
8 DA The Soviet player get to decide which unit to abort and of course will choose the fighter.
Sadly, its just not happening for the Axis air forces.
Where does the fighter land (and the bomber too)?

You can land both in Leningrad (if stacking allows that).
