Despite poor weather in the area, our air attacks went in. Perhaps 15-20 Tojos, Zeroes or Nicks were destroyed in the air or on the ground over/at PH.

The night raids of B-25's from Carnavon and B-24's from Geraldton were moderately effective. The planned air sweeps from Exmouth were less so as the two F4F squdrons and the P-40K's and Hurricanes attacked separately. They did fatigue Jap air cover over PH so the B-17 raids from Meekathara were very effective.

Were your LB attacks on the airfield exclusively? I thought you were focusing on JJ ground troops for the time being?

All of the night attacks (including all the B-24's) were airfield attacks. About 2/3 the B-17 attacks were daytime airfield attacks with some ground attacks by mediums. Now that we finally had a successful raid of any description the B-24's can go back to daytime ground attack. We had at least 4 days without successful ground attacks.

I think it is down to it. The Allied powers need to have a confab and decide if we use the carriers and BB's to try to save our troops at PH. This might be a naval bombardment by the 6 BB's with the carriers for air cover and, of course, we would have to move out from our bastions at Exmouth/Carnavon.

Several years ago, I was ahem...helping...the local economy of Las Vegas whilest at the craps table. My exuberant throw resulted in one of the dice leaving the felt top and careening up to the rim of the craps table-where the players typically align their chips.

"River Phoenix roll! River Phoenix!" came the voluminous call from the pit boss.

Air losses for the day. We made a dent in the Annoying Little Yellow Baaahsterd's air forces at PH but paid a price in Marine Wildcats flying sweep missions from Exmouth. We also lost a few of our dwindling P-38's escorting the bombers...but at least it coaxed the B-17's to attack.

A few Hurricanes were lost over China. The Betty losses were over Merauke when the brave young, and short, lads went after some PT boats and were slaughterd by P-40E's. [:)]

No, it's on Orkney so, being a superstitious people, they probably burnt them all fearing that they were the work of the devil. Either that or the Vikings stole them.
