Ocean of Even More Blood

While Bigred gave me a permission to look and even post in his part of AAR, I think I'd limit my comments to here.

It is the end of January of 1945, and, at the moment, probably what might be the last battle of the war looms around Okinawa. I must tip my hat off to Bigred, his playstyle had really changed 180 since the fruitless grinds of 1943. If he manages to land a sufficient force to turn Okinawa and surrouding islands into major airbases, he'll breach the Formosa-Okinawa-Home Islands perimeter which was supposed the line of defense I planned to stick to after the now-inevitable cutoff of Singapore and fall of Sumatra. I'm caught in a perilous position, because the planned major reinforcement of Okinawa had not yet happened, and everywhere but too-distant Kyushu and Luzon I have to contend with supply shortages.

However, more by fortuitious circumstances than by design, the surviving part of my carrier force, which was meant to maybe catch what I expected to be a major raid, is now positioned in the south of Philippine Sea, threatening the back of his invasion (take a look at the picture, and if you wonder, no, Bonin Islands do not have significant airbases, never had supply and engineering troops to build them up, so only search squadrons are usually bases there; if you also wonder, Batan was seized a couple or so turns ago by paradrop - I'm simply unable to deal with Allied paradrops by tiny forces on ungarrizoned bases, about twenty of which happened over January, in any way, beyond starting to bomb the base if it shows clear signs of development). At the same time, a formidable - but facing some airfield and supply problems - LBA force is poised to strike. So far they got CL Pasadena and unsucessfully attacked a bunch of DD task forces. A rag-tag band of surface combatants, including significantly damaged Musashi, Oyodo, a bunch of auxilaries, and whatever else I can scrounge while remains of my surface fleed still dwell around Singapore, bottling up the Malacca Strait, will fight to the last trying to delay the actual landing for at least a turn, so that LBA can launch strikes before GIs hit the beaches and KB can get into range.

We're facing either a war-winning move or a titanic slaughter of the Allied fleet.

Is there a reason for resurrecting a very stale necro AAR from 2015? Comparison with your current situation with John III?

yes, I was having a hard time finding it and wanted to reread some of the post at my leisure.
