I begun with our impulse this morning and while looking for disorganized Italian aircraft on the Western front I noticed that Brussels has one defenders and two disorganized aircraft. CW gets a decent attack on that hex and while it is risky the gain is high. Maybe it should be considered railing one unit to Brussels or reinforcing it during the land movement?

Risky for them too - the chances of leaving just one disorganised ART in Antwerp can't be a pleasant prospect.... and what is more tempting for them to try is it 1:1 +1 or 2:1 no modifiers?
The problem is what to put in there. I suppose the 6:1 GARR with Rundstedt is the obvious choice for railing. Okay, happy to go with that.

The XLIX Gebirgs-korps is returned to German control. Thank you for the loan of the unit. Its service has been invaluable, and a inspiration to the Italian forces.

Perhaps it should be considered to rebase the naval bomber in Kiel Westwards? Perhaps to Amsterdam? If it is not used for ground support, of course. Then it is within range of important British naval bases like Liverpool and Newcastle. Maybe the threat is enough for CW assets to be relocated. Or an actual port strike can be attempted if there is no air protection.

Air Rebase:
Japan:
Ki-27, in hex 85, 141 -> Chihkiang
Ki-21-IIa -> Chihkiang
Ki-51 -> Tungkwan
No reorganization.

We could try port strike on Liverpool. Worth it?
Otherwise nothing before Land Movement

Port strikes depend heavily on luck. And maybe our luck will change soon? At least we have to hope so or we could just as well lie down and.... [>:] [;)] [:D]

I think port striking Liverpool looks worth it. The AA is so low that they get no AA roll without spending surprise points on it.
If there are not to many land moves to do for Germany I think a combined impulse should be considered. Then the German U-boats can join the Italians submarine in the North Atlantic. Maybe raid the Bay of Biscay as well although that sea area is better protected. To bad that no German submarine can reach CSV.

So can I do the first part as usual? Any naval moves or port strikes or something before land movement?

Germany: Combined
1. Port Strike against Liverpool (lands back in Amsterdam if survives)
2. Two U-boats to North Atlantic
No other orders pre-movement

What you thinkin' dude?

We can get an automatic attack against the marked 3-3 in the mountains. Although then you only get 3:2+1 against the marked HQI. Or we can get 7:1 (or 5:1+1 not sure which is best) against the 3-3 and then the attack on the HQI is 3:1+1. This is without air.
Or denying the marked resource from French production although that removes the best attack unit. Or put the division at risk.
Depending on the plan the Italian unit might be needed to be included in an attack. Or used to put the German MTN in supply.

My vote is to get the best attack we can on both (rather than maximise one) and ignore the resource and don't have the Italians joining in the attack and suffering a penalty.

So the Italians put the MTN in supply so that it can join the attack on the 3-3?

I just compared the 5:1+1 table and the 7:1 and 7:1 is better regardless of the penalty that the Italian brings.

So what odds do you get on each using the equalising approach?

I think we can get 3:1+1 on the HQI and 7:1 on the 3-3. This includes the Italian attacking the 3-3. And I think it uses up all the German moves. Although I am currently doing the end of turn of game 1 so I can not look.

If you are going to install a Vichy government, a hex adjacent to Paris is worth more than any other hex in France, even one on the wrong side of the Seine. If there are any tanks across the Seine right now, I would probably attack the 4-3 INF (VII Corps) and attempt to capture two hexes adjacent to Paris at once, even at some risk. Winter Is Coming, and so are the Americans, after that. It doesn't feel like it's time to worry about casualties any more for the Axis. I presume the London MIL will be attacked too - this would begin to seal the Paris pocket before more French could retreat into it.
If you are going to conquer France, maneuvering to successfully get a unit across the Garonne River before the Allies solidify a line on it is worth more than a hex adjacent to Pairs.
And why do I always call it the Gironde River?
