Here are more units at Nagoya. The artillery with 20 something disruption arrived yesterday.

Image

Those are all units that can either:

1) Fire back at bombarding ships (AA/ART has gun tubes that will fire if ships come within range, yes?), especially if he has the bombardment range set to 0.

2) Base forces, which will be disrupted as the AF (for Av Supp) or Port (for Nav Supp) is bombarded.

Does that 1st Ind. Tank Co have tubes to shoot back at the ships?
An important point though - having the bombardment standoff range does not mean a battleship will close in to the beach - they will usually come in no closer than 4000 yards, but DDs sometimes come in as close as 2000 yards. Even with ranges this close, DP guns seem to save their anti-ship ammo for an amphib TF rather than a bombardment one.

"Seem to"? I think they shoot at the first targets that come into range.

Judging by the caliber of hits on ships bombarding, they do not shoot. But when I tried landing troops they sure shoot up the amphib ships if I do not have plenty of suppression ships embedded in the TF.

This could be a function of the range, I suppose, as the combat ships will begin their bombardment from farther offshore and move closer in until they use up the allotted ammo for the bombardment (when DL is lower, I have seen ships use up less than half of their main battery ammo - another reason DL is important).

It's possible that the amphibs are treated as coming in closer than the bombarding ships do, so are shot at by more weapons.

Thanks Alfred for the clarifications.[&o]

I am sending two more tank regiments of Type 3s to Nagoya to beef up the defense there. Two shattered divisions are on their way out, while I will rotate some Depot divisions in to absorb the aerial/port attacks.

I managed to FT 1000 supplies into Vietnam this day...the PB will probably be sunk tomorrow, but mission accomplished. I have a weak air supply bridge flying supplies in, but it simply isn't enough. Added to the FT, and transports, an SST is running supplies, and I think I will augment that with more subs.

I hope to have a few surprises for the Allies this upcoming day.

Allies catch a few of my planes on the ground and some Jacks when I miss a setting and their CAP bleeds into a Jugs sweep.

No major attacks, just threatening accumulation of Allied troops.

I have a few traps set, but they don't spring day after day.[:(]

I have 200 type 3 tanks in the field. Make 2-4 a day and I have surpassed the actual production.[:)]

Still holding below a 2-1 allied AV; if not this month, then next for sure.[:(]

Hmmm your opponent seems to pull off pyrrhic victories .. do not be so sure .. [8D]

You have pulled off quite a turnaround extending this game. More so .. you have taught all the AFB's
the evils of an early "Hokkaido Hurricane" or invasion of the home islands [&o]

Almost all of Honshu has 9/10 dl or thereabouts. No place left to hide.

Hvy bombardments at Nagoya, heavy air bombing on my runways, and at Matsumaya against the troops. Probably an attack there.

A big fear is now the Allies have interior lines and good roads. [:(] If he were to mass his tanks along with a sacrificial division or three and made an all out push for Nagoya, causing me to rejigger my lines, and then quickly moved his tanks and marines and massed a push northeast of Gifu life would be very difficult.[X(]

Well, life is pretty difficult at Nagoya now.[:D]

Over near Hainan, Oscars try to stop a CVE attack and protect a ak with 4000 supply for Vietnam. They fail, but take some wildcats and bombers with them.

In the north of Vietnam the 2nd Tank Div arrives and restores equilibrium in my lines there (the Allies built up a 2-1 advantage prior to arrival).

Supplies needed in Vietnam. Trying everything that I know of.

Baby carriers picket the coast. Perhaps an opportunity if I can replenish my supply.

A nice little hornets nest for a blundering convoy to run into.

A few slight changes & I could have done so much better.[8|]

I don´t think you will find anything outside Perth at this stage. He probably hasn´t sent anything on that route for years.

French Guns operated by locals...some of the guns are 155mm. Won't really matter, this being a clear hex it is impossible to see how I can defend it.

It's about time!! He should be invading lots of clear terrain bases all the way to Shanghai area in the coming months. This will close off your overland supply and put your troops in jeopardy. Next, I would be having a few TFs out of Saigon bombarding your bases up and down the Vietnam coast to raise disruption of your troops and make your life there even more difficult. [:D]

Not looking good, here. The 14th Division is 1 day from Hanoi...

Not one hint of troop transports in those baby carriers...ugh.
