Yes. Invariably some of them twisted their ankles slipping amidst the carnage of your PIR infantry. Perhaps rotator cuff injuries whilest throwing their hands upwards in the BANZAI cheer?

Interesting that the defenders had a "-" for prep at Dobo. I would have expected you to be better prepped than they were- unless it was all part of a master plan to lure you in- seems unlikely though.

I doubt that you have to wait and bomb them. Those two AF units have no anti-tank weapons and the guns you knocked out were likely AA guns. You scored higher casualties on them with smaller numbers of troops and no arty. I suspect a shock attack next turn will overrun them thanks to your armour.

Is Gen Marshall referring to the rum consumption by HQ types and certain civilian contractors at Papaete?
If he means overall consumption, this is easily explained: as Lord Admiral Sprior will attest it is traditional for British and Commonwealth ships to "splice the mainbrace" after a signifcant achievement. Wiping out that convoy and an entire division was probably worth four or five extra rum rations. Further, thirsty USN sailors probably rigged up bosun's chairs to highline over to the 'wet' ships and further deplete the stocks.
Theory 3 is that there is a fuel shortage in the area and rum burns nicely if it is of sufficient quality ...

The IJA 16th Division is not on the scenario 1 OOB. Don't know if it's a reconstituted unit from polyglot Infantry regiments, etc. or if it's one of the extra 'goodies' that are included in the IJA OOB in scenario 2.

I can tell you that the 6th IJA ID are a bunch of snake eaters in scenario 1. It's attached to the 11th Army (R) in the Chinese Expeditionary Army. EXP 95; Morale 99; AV 459.

The 16th IJA Division must be part of the Scenario 1 OOB, it's almost always involved in the invasion of the Philippines.

It's constituent units are the 9th Infantry Regiment (starts prepped for Lingayen), 20th Infantry Regiment, 16th Recon Regiment and 16th FA Regiment (all start prepped for Mauban) and 33rd Infantry Regiment (Kimura and Miura Detachments, prepped for Legaspi and Davao).
