Productive day ... have put up all Christmas paraphernalia (not that its so much being a bachelor), went downtown and finished all my Christmas shopping and topped it off by doing one months worth of accumulated laundry.
Time to award myself by finishing off what's left of the bottle below ... [:)]
Smooth ... and with just that perfect little touch of rum in it ... bliss ... [:'(]
You had a very productive day. We are planning to do the xmas decoration thing today also. Some years we get it done this early, some years it is not finished until the last minute.

Good line from a Simpsons episode. Homer: "Ah the Luftwaffe, the Washington Generals of the History Channel".

Hehe, that is a great line. Without the Nazis I am not sure there would even be a History Channel.

Same thing for me. I just had a short burst of productivity.
BTW, up early or going to bed late?

Going to bed late. My brother was in town for the Holiday. We spent the entire day setting up two new TVs , DVD payers, etc for our parents. New cables, so forth and so on. I did not get home until around 2 am or so. And just cannot get to sleep.

It's quite certain that there wouldn't have been...

Hi all,

Cannon-armed Spitfire in November 1940...
There were few (very few) Mk IB's...
ORIGINAL: Dixie
Not seen it yet. Looks interesting though.
He's got his Spitfire all wrong for November 1940 though

Should be brown/green for 1940, without the band round the fuselage. And the MkV wasn't in service then either [;)]
Movie was made in 2008... he usually puts it on Internet for free but this one went to few movie festivals and thus it is not released (as far as I know) to general public thus far...
And agreed about cammo scheme (although this is November 1940... perhaps the cammo started to change at that time)...
Leo "Apollo11"
I'm just nitpicking I guess [:D]
The sky fuselage band came in during early 1941 iirc, and grey/green camo in 1942. The thing about using a MkV cockpit for a MkI Spit isn't going to make any issues.
But the wings are CGI right, so there's no reason for those to have the cannon on them.

Dixie,
Hearing you pick nits re: the cockpit / armament / paint scheme used is actually interesting, believe it or not. I hadn't really thought of the camo pattern at all until you mentioned it. What's the rationale for the R/W/B striped 'flag' on the foreward part of the tail? It looks awfully French...[&:]

Seems I have gotten myself into trouble by patching too early. [:(]

iirc, it's a holdover from the days of the ASF in France. Just another form of quick identification brought in to provide similar forms of ID between French and British aircraft. The RFC in France used a similar thing in 1914-18.

The joys of joint operations. British Sea Hurricanes were painted with US insignia during Operation Torch to avoid being attacked by American fighters.

And Albacores, Martlets, Swordfish...
iirc they were painted with the stars as it was thought the French would be less likely to shoot at the Americans than us. Apparently the French were slightly upset that the RN sank their fleet [X(]

How unsporting. It's not like the RN had done that a couple of times historically ... [8|][:'(]
