It worked as planned! Each of those 18.1" shells + propellant cost more than a PT boat. The idea is to ruin Japan's economy by making it go over budget. Now if we could just get the DDs to waste their very expensive torpedoes on a ship that is too shallow in draft to be hit .... can New York City spare some garbage scows??.

Port Hedrand: Big LYB raid on our AK's unloading suppries. We coulda used a few more F4F's or P-38's. Even so, trading Bettys and their pilots for damaged AK's is an OK bargain. Allied raids at PH net about 200 LYB casualties. The first relief troops are about 4-5 d out. No LYB rand attack. I dont know where the bombers are coming from..either Timor or Wyndham.

Cap .. I move SC's from EC to WC via the canal ... from Cristobal the 1500 endurance runs out one hex away from San Diego where they are towed in and in two days back to full operational value. I have found these 1500 endurance SC's to be great annoyances to the IJN submarines as they oftern try and fire a torp with little chance of success ..[8D] I have 16 in 4 groups of 4 running patrols in my merchant lanes around the ports ..

Was the need to split Torpedoman's Mate Malarkey's evidence into two separate posts (#7118 and 7119) necessitated by a break in court proceedings to bring the "Observors" back to order and regain their equilibrium after the shocking revelations, or was it due to the well known Australian legal procedures of the time of always adjourning for lunch.

In any case, I think a relevant notation in the transcript would be appropriate.
