I wonder if they are running the correct version, meaning expanded pilot array versus original?

Search arc. This is not related to latest patch.
I'm convinced their are not displaying correctly and have been for some time. In the pic I've set 60% search arcs for a VPB with 15 fully functional aircraft with 36+12 AV support on a well stocked base. The base is short 6+3 AV but the problem applies to even when not short of AV. To my mind that gives me 9 black search arc for a arc of 90, 9 green and 9 blue for an arc of 180. It does but setting anything in between gives weird results as the pic.
In this example I've set an arc of 80 which should result in 8 black search arcs not as shown here with 7 green and one black[&:]
What should be happening game wise is that 7 arcs are being seacrhed AM/PM by 1 plane each while the remaining arc has 2 planes searching AM/PM, hence all black arcs as the game does not distingish arcs being searched by more than one aircraft. Or does it, in a roundabout way?
Could the numbers planes seaching an arc be added?
As well as this the last arc line and arc curve are often green or in some instances the arc line is missing but thats being a tadge fussy.

Correct.
Check that both of you are using either the WITPAE exe or the WITPAE MP exe. The saves from MP version can't be read by the non-MP version.

As i wrote a few posts ago. Had a problem of 5 bdes moving into an hex with around 3k own av and 6k enemy av. They where in move mode. One of the armored bdes did a shock attack, rest did nothing.
There should not have been a shock attack as there where enough friendly av in hex and even if not why did only one bde shock ?
Now there should be the right save. (with the attack at the end of the turn resolution).

I have tweaked the restricted groups off map.
Restricted groups at offmap bases can only load on ships IF the base has no land hexsides. This means that Canada and East US should not allow loading on to ships in future.
In addition, if a static restricted group is in an offmap base and the group's national home base is no longer available, it will lose its static attached attribute. Rebuilding destroyed 'static attached' groups cost more now, so players need to think "is it really worth it to rebuild a statically attached group".
This should go into q6 on the weekend if there is no major reason against it.
[1108q5a]
Fixed No planes, no torpedo ordnance available [MEM]
Tweak Added option to release most EXP pilots from group [MEM]
Tweak Limit offmap movement of restricted groups to sea-locked base only [MEM]

You were using the MP version under q3 (the version the save is from). You need to use the MP version going forward.
I loaded the save fine with q5's MP version.

Looking at the ownership of the hexsides between 56,51 and 57,61, the right hand side of the hexside is controlled by Allies, but the left hand side looks 'red' which means it is controlled by the Japanese.
That probably means that the first Allied unit (50th Tank) across the river would have changed the ownership of the hexside to the Allies but would have been set to Shock Attack.
The following units would have then used the 1/3rd rule as both hexsides of the river crossing are controlled by the Allied player now.

I believe I can also finger the underlying cause that triggered this problem for dirtyharry as I noticed it for the first time today as well.
The installer is unconditionally overwriting the desktop icon <et al> with a new definition. If a user has altered that link to add command line parameters other than the default "E:\Extended Disk\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific (Admirals Edition)\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -w , these are getting lost. I suspect that this is probably the case for dirtyharry that he had also adjusted the executable to be the MP version.
I would propose that you alter the installer behavior to create the desktop icon when not found, and do nothing when it already exists.

And this is why it is a good idea to create your own shortcut if you want to add your personalised options to the installed shortcut.[:D]

Ahh ok, did not know that as currently i only took the 1/3rd rule into account. Thank you very much.

1108q4 air group upgrade problem
Posted: Mon Sep 26, 2011 4:15 pm
by Oliver Heindorf
Hello, when I try to "upgrade a unit from B-17E to B-17D models (because it is a training unit sitting in Pendelton) I get 12 b-17D Models deducted from the Air Plane Pool which seems correct to me.
However the B17E Models are increasing the Pool only by 2 despite the fact that the air unit had 7 planes ready and 5 planes grounded.
This trick I have done dozend times before to bring up the good planes to the front and I was always given the removed planes back to pool. See Screenshots. Saves are aviable- before upgrande and after upgrade as well.
here you see the current pool before I "upgrade".

my plane pool after the upgrade was done. see the D pool is deducted by 12 and the E model is increased by 2. Why only two ? what am I missing ?

When you upgrade or withdraw squadrons, the planes do not all go back the pool at once. They have some randomness built in, but what you will see is a few going to the pool each turn. Happily, there is a message in the Operations Report each turn telling you how many delayed planes went to the pool that turn and how many are still delayed. They are even broken down by model.

Very useful this ... always like to see the die rolls I get on these. [;)]
