Hmmm ... that doesn't sound so good. I'm going for a recce to the Ardennes area (IVO Sedan) on friday morning and staying until sunday. Was hoping for a little better weather :-/

One of the many things I like about this thread; if there are 2 ways to answer a question it will always be answered the wrong way.
What's the other way?
To start answering and go off on a massive tangent before sauntering back to the original question briefly before totally losing interest and achieving a UNP or Faber.

my day we were glad of the snow. It were better than walking the 54 miles to the coal mine outside Harrogate in bare feet across boiling lava to work 18 hours down the mine before leaving the mine and walking another 16 miles to school. Of course in them days we were grateful for the chance to walk across lava and snow in our bare feet, we were lucky to even
have feet. Course, anything less than 18 feet of snow was just a light dusting, we didn't call it snow until it were above the tops of t' trees.
Not
only that, but we still had time to be respectful to us elders. And no-one ever had to lock their doors on account of thieves not being invented yet. And don't get me started on this so-called modern music. Or modern food.

I finally folded and bought Last Stand Arnhem. [8|]
1800 on the first day and it's going alright(ish). St Odenroede, Veghel, Grave, Blankenberg, Heumen and the Arnhem Rail bridges are all under Allied control. Fritz managed to blow up the bridges at Best and Son though [:(]

Pifft, and you think you had it hard in the old days. My expensive school shoes were so heavy because their souls were made of real leather, that I used to get ligament damage just walking from my chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce into the school building. Can you imagine the utter monotony of having to sit in a real-leather overstuffed chair while I took my lessons. But worst of all were the five-course silverware launches served at my school, as the afternoon was shear hell with my overfull stomach. So I would thank you Sir not to compare you happy and comfortable upbring, with my poor and bitter experience of school life. [:-]

When I was 12 I was at a jumble sale and found a book called
Escort by
D A Rayner. It was an original from 1955 but it somehow wandered off. Now I have a copy from The Naval Institute and I still enjoy digging it out and reading it. If you haven't read it I can heartily recommend it.
