Yes, he did. D-Day, that is. It's where he lost those two fingers. For some odd reason the producers avoided showing the injury, which in-universe could easily be explained by invoking some rogue power conduit or something.

He lost one finger, the middle finger of his right hand. You can see that when he has a load of tribbles. James Doohan did not want his loss of a finger shown so there was a hand double when possible.
