To think of it, my usual practice with them was to gather the starting 7 and forget them in some backwater port. And them are beasts doing more damage to allied shipping now than the rest of Kaigun combined )

September 22, 1944

Oita stands up to another attack, but nearbye Tokayama falls. No troops here other than static units pretty much.

Everyone but one small splinter leaves Okayama today and makes Kobe. 4600 AV that can continue to fight rather than being cut off.

Allied troops have movement arrows going every direction...

The MTB manages to refuel at Oita and make Matsumaya and is disbanded back into the pools.

Allies use their single engines to bomb Oita, and it is fairly ineffective.

Over on the western China front Pakhoi is bombed by lots of Allied 4E beasties and the Chinese are showing signs of live up in the mountains.



Nagoya makes level three forts again.[:)]

Nothing magical, I make sure I have good captains and I swamp the area with night naval search which is what I think really helps if the encounter takes place after the air phase at night. I also greatly prefer no moonlight and was helped yesterday by thunderstorms too!

The ML tangles with 10 PT boats off Oita, damages one PT and escapes back to Hiroshima.

A few night attacks, but no joy here.

Allies bombard the fortress at Oita, but they still have some teeth.

A bypassed base launches a surprise attack on baby carriers....maybe, maybe...

9 Bombers get thru, veterans all, but they are no match for the heavy flak and all miss.

Oita holds, other bases fall.

5400 AV of troops back in Kobe. The ML is still alive.
