When you have so much supplies raids won´t really matter at all. Maybe I am just a little paranoid with Pzb´s abilities.
Sorry for being a pain asking you for being a little less aggressive but a little more secure play. I am quite sure you are a competent player and do everything right.

Hmmm Sneer I think that point was achieved in 43 I had a 3 month hiatus where I didnt transport a single soldier but had to dedicate everything I had to cargo hauling to keep my AF flying.

The reason for the huge surplus now is

a. due to Nomad's stockpiling that is still standing me in good stead in place like New Cal and Tarawa.
b. I stopped shipping forward Seabees and have about 50 of them piled up at San Fran
c. Everything that could float and haul supplies has been doing so but it has not been without compromises. i.e. fuel in SWPAC is pretty low now I have been prioritising CENTPAC I can afford to build a surplus in only one theatre.

I was a little flippant earlier with Frank's comments when I said 50 AK's didnt matter. I was wrong every AK is vital at this stage what I should have said is that the lack of 50 AK's would not cripple Thunderchild it would however delay by up to 60 - 90 days minimum the next major Corps level SWPAC offensive that I am currently considering.

I wont lay it out yet as it is a germ of an idea and I want to see how Tinian goes before I even begin to stockpile for it.

i asked because i sunk allied 250 AKs and 50 TK/AOs till that moment - looks like it would be far better to me to concentrate on  allied merchant fleet than warships - as there is more than enough warships as reinforcements to Raverdave

Your AAR gives all other Allied players hope to be able to play with ALL those toys at some time in the future. [:D][&o][:D]
Just wish you had some sort of forces in India to be of use. When it comes to non-deployable British forces, how do they show up on the re-inforcement schedule??

Oh, the Soviets! SO, go go go!

I´d think it would be helpfull for you plans to start a "little" bombing offensive on all those nice airfields around, like Morotai or Mendanao to get the planes on the ground?
Do you know where those Francis bombers come from? They have a range of 7 or 8 to attack with torpedoes, haven´t they? Do you think it would be possible to close the airfiled they are deployed and destroy them on the ground?
Alternatively you can build up your airbases in NG and get fighter cover over an area 2 to 3 hexes along the NG Northern coast. Do you have plans to bring more seabees to NG to get the airfields built up faster.

The only issue is transport capacity.

The build up for Thunderchild has priority at moment so although I have large numbers of CB's back at West Coast and Pearl I cannot afford the shipping to bring them forward.

I need to have all my strike Corps in place and ready to fight in time for activation of the operation.

I may have ran before I could walk a little with Minotaur I should perhaps with hindsight have waited a couple more weeks to forward dump supplies and bring up in theatre engineering reserves.

I am acting uncharacteristically reckless at the moment and I need to slow down and be a little more methodical.

The good news is by siezing Admiralties, and the 2 bases north of wasile I have made a good start on building a really solid base for future operations.

I will post a screenie of my reinforcement q tonight to show my forces that are waiting.

Re Bombing his bases I think I need to take stcok and go methodical again for a while.

I would like to point out something for the Japanese players.

Given a choice between securing PM, Lunga and Tarawa or knocking out India I would suggest SOPAC is more important and would point to this game as evidence.

PZB knocked India out in this game but Wobbly managed to cling on to his forward bases and grab Tarawa. It was from these bases that ADavidB and Nomad drove forward.

Now I am pretty much on a historical timetable I am not actually ahead of schedule.

My Marianas invasion will only happen weeks in advance of the historical one

If they had not secured those advanced bases I would be 6 months further back. i.e. the loss of India has not as yet affected the direct attack on Japan.

Route 1 is still the best for the allies !!!

I guess what I am saying is if the IJA can hold the CW Army either at Mandalay (difficult because of allied airpower) or Moulmien (possible) or even Tavoy (very doable) i.e. keep them out of range of the oilfieds then India IMO should be a secondary objective until you have captured AND SECURED the forward bases.

Actually Sneers tactic is good for this take the bases up to Calcutta and around the Burmese border using minimum force.

A limited objective like this probably allows you to try it after securing these forward bases.

As Pauk is finding now in my game v him if he doesnt secure them early he never will [:D][:D].

Interesting, from our game I remember something like 64-66 units bearing down on Burma from India in mid '43. How is the IJA supposed to stop that? I had 6 divisions in Burma and I had to secure Malaya and western coast of thailand too as I was really paranoid of you landing behind my back.

but that was a massive bluff

I had used PBY's to taken a small fragment from every unit I could lay my hands on to get the unit count up only 2 actual Divs were in that force !!!!

The main attack was a direct invasion of Malaya/Rangoon by 4 full army Corps !!!!

Aha, so I was correct in keeping a large part of my forces in the rear. [:-]
