Sure. There are some important rules:
1. A women always has to say the check has to be paid individually. She must never assume that you pay it.
2. If you are eating with someone you don't want to get in your bed (see 1), everyone pays for himself.
3. Paying for others mean you either want to get them into bed (see 1), or that you are bragging about how much money you have.
4. Only difference is drinking among friends. There, each one pays a round, continuing through the group. So finally everyone has payed exactly one round and thus only paid his own beer [;)]

Nope seems to have stopped a while ago. I remember reading that they had arrested a suspect but since I dont spend a lot of time on the south shore I never really followed it.
