Weather continues to hamper my air ops in Burma. I wonder if the end of monsoon season in 15 days will improve that?

But, LCIs are not barges, they are Landing Ship, Infantry. According to the manual they were made LCI to not confuse players with the British LSI series of ships.

Yes, that's my point. Barges would not have been hit by air like the LCIs were (at least in my experience vs. Japanese computer).

Question. If I move some Chinese units into Indo-China there are some counter invasion forces generated.
Does anyone know what those are? I would assume that they would not be especially strong given they are
made up of basically conscripts.

There are 4 VM divisions that appear, numbered 1 through 4. They are static, and they appear at Haiphong, Hanoi, Hue, and Luang Prabang. They are all identical to the image below and have some French equipment. Actually, I think VM actually stands for Vichy Militia, not Vietnamese Militia but I'm not sure. (They start with 30 morale, 35 experience, and only half their ToE). I also seem to recall that they don't appear in any incursion into Indo-China that takes place after 1942, so it might be you won't encounter them at all.

The VM stands for Viet Minh - the rebels against the French colonial regime. When the Western powers gave Vietnam back to France after the war the betrayed Viet Minh went communist and became the Viet Cong.

It might be after sometime in 1943 that the Vietnamese decided to help the Allies - once they saw the Japanese were losing. They never liked the Japanese to begin with but knew they could not fight them so they just let the Japanese occupy and use the country without being formally allied with them.

I had the Viet Minh emergency divisions show up in June 1942. Strangely, they show up on sequential days and when I pulled back my errant unit that triggered them, they stopped arriving so there were only VM units in Haiphong and Hanoi. When I am finally ready to invade we will see where the others show up. I am sure in previous games I saw them in Saigon and another place on the coast besides Hue.

I have a PBY-5A unit in Liuchow that is doing Naval Search in the Northern portion of the South China Sea and 8 subs tasked to patrol the area.

At Taung Gyi my Da gets better results than before
My bombing seems to be paying off, he had a negative for Fatigue. I again reduced the forts
and my losses were spread out nicely but the 7th Chinese Corps took a fairly big hit in disabled squads.
I can afford that, I have lots of supply in the area so disablements are not a serious long term problem
I am moving the three combat engineers out to Meiktila where there is supply and a command HQ to help repair
I have two more Indian Divisions moving in, 444 AV each, next turn, so another DA in two turns

I do not think he got the results he wanted. I lost 3 size 2900 xAKs and a LSI(L) was hit. the LSI is damaged

My bombers targeting Taung Gyi were all down due to weather.
The only good part is that I did not lose any pilots, just airframes.

Well, a completely disgusting turn.

I read the tea leaves and the mouseovers totally wrong. I thought he had a CA TF available
and I expected him to do a naval bombardment. But he was in range of 3 bases and I thought that
the results would not be too bad, I had terrain and forts to protect the bases. It turns out he
had a TF with 4 BBs in it.

My losses were large About 1 to 1.5 months of production was lost, some of it can not be made up for a while. The B-25Gs are out of production, etc.
It is what it is, not a stellar turn for me, I could have moved most if not all the aircraft out. I thought about it and didn't, my bad
decision.

Then the weather shut down all my medium bombers flying to Taung Gyi so my DA did not go as well as I would have expected.

He has moved a unit out, t he 21st Ind. Mixed Bde is no longer in the hex, I had a B-25 unit target it in the hex SW of Taung Gyi.
I have another DA ordered for today. My losses have been fairly well spread out and I have replacements available for most of my
ground unit losses. I have supply in all of the Burma bases, with 70,000+ at Prome. Along with 4 Command HQs spread out to help
move supply and generate replacements. A good amount of my actual infantry losses have been Chinese and I do have 3500 or more
infantry squads in the pool.

A pair of AMs were sunk by Nells in the hex next to Biak, it is surprising that Nells were able to hit these small ships with torpedoes, must be
good pilots.

KB seems to be retiring from the area, I have a night bombing attack with heavy bombers on Rangoon and a lot of day time fighter sweeps.
Recon is showing 175 fighters and about 50 bombers there.

The units at Ramree Island sustained high disruption( 79 or higher ) and that is making the repairs go slowly, but the disruption is going down
quite fast, there is more that adequate supply and support and I am moving some more construction troops into the base from Chittagong.

Now the only two ships listed as sunk are DD Makigumo and DD Makinami. But, there were both morning and afternoon attacks and I have
Naval Search more than covering this area. But, there are no ship icons shown in the area. DD Kikuzuki took 3 bomb hits in the first two attacks
and did not show up after that. DD Fubuki took only one bomb hit, but also 65 .50 cal shell hits also. DD Kazegumo took two bomb hits, so .50 cal
and did not show up in the later strikes. I think I might have sunk all 5 of them

The losses I lost 12 pilots, 3 British and 9 USAAF. I would have liked to get a higher kill ratio, but it is worth noting that most of my sweepers were the older
P-47D2 model, the P-47D25 model is a small amount faster and is more maneuverable, especially at high altitudes.

I tend to forget that there is a place in the game to see what happened to your pilots this turn
It shows that I had 9 MIA, 3 WIA, and 10 KIA pilots this turn.

October 14, 1943

A quiet turn, night bombers hit Rangoon, didn't do much, seems there are no aircraft left there.

Because we are playing with fixed reinforcements, the middle of the month turns are bigger than most,
I get a lot of my ships on the 14th of the month. About 10-12 DDs and 8-10 DEs each month, plus others
