China - Looks like the Allies are ready to break out from the 'bocage' and race across the country. Maybe they can get Gen Patton transferred over from Europe?? [:D]

Changsha is surrounded, but I think it will hold.
The attack from Ichang will be hard to stop, there is roughly 700 AV at Hankow including some tanks.
The two wandering armored brigades are unstoppable except at stronghold cities like Hankow, Shanghai, etc.
but there is only 27 more days to go.

A vicious attack at Maizuru gets a 2-1 and reduces forts to 1. I will try and get what reinforcements there I can this turn, but there is almost no supplies getting to the troops.
Once it falls, the troops will retreat into the rough terrain to the northeast, and Osaka has but 2000 AV defending while Kobe only 1000.
There is 2400 AV in the rough terrain, but it looks bleak...
Ground combat at Maizuru (110,58)
Allied Deliberate attack
Attacking force 101854 troops, 1543 guns, 2867 vehicles, Assault Value = 3942
Defending force 97378 troops, 1996 guns, 730 vehicles, Assault Value = 2312
Allied engineers reduce fortifications to 1
Allied adjusted assault: 1368
Japanese adjusted defense: 613
Allied assault odds: 2 to 1 (fort level 1)
Allied Assault reduces fortifications to 1
Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), disruption(-), preparation(-), supply(-)
Attacker:
Japanese ground losses:
8044 casualties reported

Engineers: 17 destroyed, 91 disabled
Guns lost 386 (56 destroyed, 330 disabled)
Vehicles lost 39 (9 destroyed, 30 disabled)
Units destroyed 2
Allied ground losses:

Ground Combat - Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the amount of squads/devices destroyed significantly increase when over 50% are disabled in a particular LCU? Looking at Maizuru you could be in trouble when the next time your on the wrong end of 2:1 or worse, if I'm right.

I got the turn away this morning, and I am moving some of the most shattered troops away and trying to reinforce, but I suspect he will attack with everything today and force a retreat. He may even shock attack.[X(]
I have one division with every unit in it disabled![X(]
The only chance I have is that all but one CA bombardment TF is down at Nagoya, but if he throws all his air force at me again there I don't see how I can hold.

The New Mexico BB groups arrives off Maizuru...4E bomb Maizuru while most 2E and single engine bombers hit Nagoya.
Is this the end?
Hectic Japanese troop movements to Maizuru and Nagoya continue. Many potential invasion beaches are stripped of their garrisons.
Troops with no supply in Maizuru march out while fresh troops march in.
And as the day winds down, the Allies pause and pursue only artillery bombardments.
Three fresh infantry divisions and more will reach Maizuru tomorrow in time to defend against a deliberate or shock attack -- but they will be in reserve (no purusit) mode. Will it be enough?

Changsha is surrounded and now being heavily bombed.
Allied tanks moving on towns along the river north of Shanghai...uhoh!
Super heavy aerial and naval bombardments at Maizuru & Nagoya...but no deliberate attack.
Heavy fighting in the mountain passes of China where dug in Japanese troops continue to resist.
It is getting desperate...[:D]

Just a general impression, but your opponent's pauses to gather strength/recover have on several occasions allowed you time to get more strength in to oppose him and led to disastrous attacks for his side. This seems to reflect the same things that happened to opponents of Rommel and General Lee - dithering that let the vulnerable enemy off the hook.

Shhh![;)]
I have gotten several good units in, and what is better they have supply. I seem to have an easier time getting supply to troops in non-base hexes than in cities.
I am rotating all troops without supply out, and moving in fresh units. My hopes are that I can buy a few more days...only 25 or so days left to hold.

Is this the end?
I lose two APDs trying to escape Honshu, and a freshly made destroyer tangles with Fletchers and survives for now.
Maizuru, Nagoya and Wushi in China are bombarded. Tanks coming to Wushi today I bet.

Allies are stripping their forces for focused attacks just like me.
This is a great sign! I think.
Bombardment at Osaka.
