Summer 1945 - While some Uboats continue to hackle the transports an airstrike catches the WA offguard over England. Ground forces move into defensive positions. The bulk of Red Army marched into Rumania where they pose little of a threat for Berlin.

WA Sum '45 (European Theatre) - At sea several U-boats were tracked down and sent to the bottom or back to the shipyard. The ground and air forces continued a strategy of strangling German resources. The Low Countries, Eastern France, Sicily, Greece and W. Egypt are liberated.

Pacific continued below. Turn sent to Marshall Art.

WA Sum '45 (Pacific Theater) - Japan's air forces are attacked. The noose tightens around the Islands however Tojo successfully pulled most of his forces back to the homeland. Ceylon, Korea, Sumatra and Thailand are liberated. Now the pummeling begins.

Fall 1945 - pleasantly surprised by the troop deployment of the Red Army, Axis forces once more use "elastic defense" tactics to reduce the threat on the Eastern Front while the WA are facing fortified positions in the West. Screen shot shows troop levels before final Axis movements.

While the resource base is shrinking there is still enough left in the Axis depots to run the war machine at sufficient speed.

Winter 1946 - Germany's turn: Some troop movements, and a blundered air strike. High command ordered an airfield attack on Russian Fighter bases but the Field commander executed a ground attack - leaving the Russian planes damaged but not destroyed. However some success was achieved as tanks and artillery units got damaged. Not too bad after all.

WA - Win '46: The Axis are dug in deep, but we'll continue to try to dig them out. Northern Italy repels an allied attack dealing out some heavy losses. Meanwhile in the Far East the remnants of the Japanese airforce are destroyed.

Spring 1946 - After some casualties were caused among the WA in Italy more dead bodies were sent home from Eastern France. Preceded by an air strike, the German tank armies ran over what the WA may have hoped was the bulk of their 'liberation army'. A new Russian troop contingent is being amassed in Hungary meanwhile.

I seem to be the last one who posted a turn - can either of you, mikemcmann or dobeln, confirm receipt of the Spring 1946 turn? This is getting close to real time strategy.... Let's get this game finished [;)]

I am getting the feeling that Mike may be the problem.
I have gotten no response from emails to him.
Marshall Art do you think you could email him as his partner and ask what his intentions are?

Thanks

Ok guys I have heard from Mike McMann and he is dropping out of the tournament due to real life.

I have been giving this issue a lot of thought for 2 days now.

His partner Marshall Art has been a very good participant in this tournament and I dont want to see him knocked out of the tournament due to Mike dropping out. They were involved in the following games:

#------Ger--------------------JP----------------RU/CH------------WA-
01) MrQuiet----------Avatar47------------Marshall Art--------mikemcmann
02) Marshall Art------mikemcmann--------dobeln-----------BoerWar

Game 1 will be a Allied forfiet since it is still in 1943. Thus no East vs West to contend with.

Game 2 is in Spring 1946 which would be a draw if the game ended right now (not considering high water marks) and the Axis still look strong enough to hold a couple turns (just my opinion based on limited screen shots)
I have decided to call it a draw with no East vs West. Allies might have made it to the East vs West if they could get the Axis to surrender in a few turns but they would have lost WWII thus losing team points instead of gaining them like they will for being awarded a draw.

So:
Game1 Allied Forfiet no East vs West
Game2 Draw(due to Axis forfiet) no East vs West

Marshall Art will be permitted to play in Round2 if he can recruit a new team member.
Their team Score will be zero (-20 for the Loss and +20 for the draw)
Any AAR points Marshall Art has earned will also be added to his partners AAR score (since there is a definate bit of competition between members of the same team I want them to start at the same level)

*Important*
In the future any player that drops out without finding a replacement and giving that replacement your password will cause DV to your opponents of any unfinished games no matter what the game date is. And Allied opponents gaining this win will have the option to play the stock East vs West scenario.

I will tally up the AAR points soon.

I have just tallied up the AAR points.
I am allowing all players to miss 1 post before penalties are applied.

(edit)
Since a replacement player has been found the previous points tally is now void.

Seems fair enough to me. I agree, I don't think Dobeln and I would have finished off the Axis before time ran out. One or the other would have still been standing. Good luck to Mike with whatever issues he's dealing with.

Player update:

Sandeman will take over for Mikemcmann as my new partner. Since I most likely was the last one to receive a turn, it is the Japanese Spring 1946 turn.

Sandeman, welcome to the game. The Western Allies had several well placed spies in the Japanese camp. They indicate that in a move meant to symbolize the futility of war Mike's troopers planned to commit harikari to a man.[:D] I'm sure you will follow through on his intent. While we deplore the loss of so many fine people we applaud the courageous decision should you chose to lead this noble effort (I'm pretty sure there is a disband unit button somewhere).

On a serious note I hope Dobeln is still up and going. Neither of our games has moved since early/mid-June and I haven't seen any emails or postings from him. Good luck, although I don't think you guys will need it to finish off this particular game favorably.
