It seems odd to me that paradox games are mega popular considering they are just the same tired old engine using different sprites and national parameters every time. It must take their team only a few weeks at most to bang off a new game and then rake in millions of dollars in sales while they make the patches that are needed to finish the game. My friend bought one called Caesar or Rome I think and he played it for like 1 or 2 hours before permantly stashing it away never to be seen again in his piles of junk.
And you are basing that on what exactly? The HOI3 engine is based on EU3... Paradox worked on HOI3 for about 4 years...so I would think that's huge amount of work. Lot of people do not realize how much effort it is to make something like EU or HOI. As far as I know there in't anybody out there that makes games like Paradox grand strategy games on such detailed level. I don't have experience with every Paradox games but I played HOI, EU3 and now HOI3 demo and these games are pretty good.

I heard HOI3 might get a patch today - anyone know if it's out and where it's available?

Yep, there is a 1.1 launch day patch.

I guess all digital download versions should have that applied already.

I think a lot of people just dont like the micro management(I do though).I just downloaded and been playing.Been playing HOI2 since it was released and can easily beat the ai,but this is quite difficult.I also hear a lot of complaints re historical events. The events will not trigger on their specific dates, but will occur depending on how the player uses diplomacy, trade politics etc. and the parameters for the events get set before they fire.

Well, apparently it was "disappointing" to a previous poster that we were "bashing" HOI3, so there apparently is some sort of line that one doesn't cross...
Anyone with 3 brain cells can see you were bashing on HOI3 and Paradox.

Yawn... More Hearts of Iron; could we milk this old engine just a little bit more, Paradox?
I was thinking the same thing about WITP AE except with a couple of exceptions. HOI3 has a demo for people to see if they like it before they buy it and HOI3 is cheaper.

Oh, look who crawled out of his little hole... I admitted to "bashing" Paradox, along with all other gaming companies who won't invent something new.
I dislike Paradox intensely, so I don't frequent their Internet forum. You obviously don't like Matrix, yet you still squat here like an obnoxious dog doing his business in a flower bed. Guess you must only have 2 brain cells.
Go back to mewling about the Malvinas, and how you "was robbed" and "couldabeen a contenduh!"...
Loser.

Don't encourage him [:-]
And there's no such place as the Malvinas either...

BG reminds to the 40 bucks I wasted lasted year for SR2020. They combined a sophisticated business simulation with C&C style combat, where one got to manage hundreds of units in realtime. It was the most confusing clickfest I ever encountered and the dev's even defended this completely lack of control as design decision.

They decided not to design anything? [:D]

The most excessive clickfest for me was Dune 2. RTS with dozends of units - but no possibility to give them orders than one by one... [>:]

What you´re failing to understand here, my little slope headed troll, is your not just any poster on any forum.
You´re officially connected with a Matrix new release,
admitedly ¨bashing¨ another companys new release on the Matrix forum.
That sends a strong message troll or can´t you understand that. [8|]
Probably not.

I think it's kind of funny how everytime there is a Paradox release three forums start an uproar over the game released. The Paradox forum itself, The Wargamer and Matrixgames. I sometimes wonder if it isn't a conspiracy or just jealousy?

Be fair.. it was the first of the breed. It's been a long time but I don't even remember it being a particular problem. I still found it easier to play than modern RTS games as at least you weren't fannying about with camera controls all the time.

Neither. What 'uproar'? Frankly mate, it's just paranoia.
We've had one poster having something resembling a pop at Paradox, while everybody else has either explained reasonably and politely why they will be buying HoI 3 or why they won't. It's only because the games are so popular, and a great many regular Matrix punters are fans, that they are discussed at the length they are.

I know what you mean. [8|]
Personally, I've had a blast with it ALL day! [:D]
I think in "wargamer forum" terms, that makes me a fanboi - but I would never have said so...I simply like some games and not others...I don't really give a crap who the dev or publisher is - if it's a game I like, and I have the cash I will stump up. I like to call it "supporting my hobby"...and I mean that regardless of dev or publisher!
Money well spent here. [:D]
I also found it funny that some people were not happy that the game is ahistorical and yet mention picking it up when it's $5. I suppose there must be a price on historical accuracy for some people. I of course have no problem with that - it's their wallet and their money, hard earned or otherwise - I just find that particular situation strange.
