Programing the AI for the side with the power is going to be tough. Takin hold of the initiatve is tough for a human, how do you get that going for a cyber. I do it being impulse and its my nature. The AI is getting better on defense, but now Gary has to build in other factors when it goes into the offence...Granted the AI was very poor in WIR...Either way this is a much better game than WIR, and the internet opens the world to bring you a player into your home...

Insuring it keeps its units together and in supply, uses all its assets (Rpls, air, reserve) and guards its flanks will be better than alott of games.
Letting the Armor spearheads freely use Regts from the flanking inf div's and assigning the losses to them untill a certain loss percentage is met? Should keep the attack going and force the Russian player to try and stop the spearheads at all cost.
Shouldn't have to worry about pockets if the armor can kill enough Russians buy useing up flanking inf units guns and men before they start using their own.

Thank you PyleDriver for your AAR, shows what the Germans could have done historically.

After years of wargaming I have come to the conclusion that the Wehrmacht didn't have the power to destroy enough of the Russian Army in the encirclement battles, and take Moscow in the same campaign (1941). This is exactly what your AAR shows. That the Wehrmacht could not move on Moscow until certain prerequisites were fulfilled;

#. That the Russian Armies combat power was damaged to such a level that they could not defend Moscow, and lunch flanking attacks on the communications of the Wehrmacht units operating toward Moscow (at the same time).

#. That the Wehrmacht secured hard shoulders on their flanks, and enough depth of any corridor/silent toward Moscow, to be able to safely 'pinch-out' any Russian flanking operations.

I fell that your operations, and strategy had covered all these conditions masterfully.

Des.

The problem with this, is if we break down the weight of British and French units early in the war vs the Germans, one would draw the conclusion in any (accuratly based) wargame that it was impossible for the Axis to win against the French.  We know now that this did not happen, but was the expected result.  Simple answere being, the allies made at least one too many disastrous blunders in falling for some of the oldest fient tricks in the book.

Having stronger forces is something, but there is more to warfare than just brute force.  Of course... I'm not trying to downplay the role of strength & numbers :P

But lets be honest here, had the French capital never fallen, it is most likely you and many others could not concieve that it would have been possible.

No we wouldn't. The idea of Fall Gelb and Fall Rot being a "close" victory for the Germans is a very persistent myth. In an accurate wargame, we'd see that French army divisions are smaller than German divisions, lacked support, had less capable leadership, as well as less training. The French air force was still in the process of modernizing and was caught more or less unprepared for the number of aircraft the Luftwaffe used against them. After Fall Gelb, France was doomed. Perhaps the war would've dragged on for another month or two if the French divisions in the Low Countries could withdraw to France, but even then the French armed forces were still so flawed compared to the Germans that defeat was inevitable.

The war on the Eastern Front has a much more variable outcome than Fall Gelb/Fall Rot.

The historical weakness of some French and British units is easily incorporated by low fatigue and moral levels, to reflect the condition of particularly the Reserve Divisions, which were unprepared and ill-equiped for the type of warfare they faced. Weak command and control could be easily simulated, as it is for Soviet units in 1942. The French Prioux Cavalry Corps and the Russian 8th Mech Corps, both suffered multiple changes in orders before they finally contacted the enemy. They were disrupted before combat by their own High Commands [:)]
