what is a county fair?

Counties are government entities between the states and cities and towns. County fairs are smaller examples of what is discussed in the thread I linked to. What isn't discussed there is all of the gut churning carny rides that help you process the food.

Just google county or state fairs for the state you will be in, like South Carolina county fairs turns up this link: http://www.scfairs.org/dates.html

Anyway, it's nice to read that you are enjoying your visit. Next time come to visit the wide open spaces west of the Mississippi. As Willa Cather wrote: "Not a country at all, but the material out of which countries are made."

At the Air Mobility Command Museum, one of the employees added three interesting hotels to my list:

Werner Robins Museum
Polk City Fantasy of Flight
Pensacola USN Museum

It's getting hard to count, how many museums and ships I will have seen, then. Defenitly more, than many countrys posess at all [;)]

Going to chime in again....

Pensacola Naval Air Museum (not as big as the USAF at Wright-Patt) but a MUST see that you will never regret! I suggest staying a the Crown Plaza in P'cola as it has a bar that is chock full with pics from modern day Blue Angles, USMC major personalities, Presidents, etc. It is built into an old train station hub.

And if you will be in P'cola, go to the beach which are the most beautiful in the world in my opinion, but then you are only 45 minutes away from the USS ALABAMA in Mobile Alabama. Also a must see that you won't regret the time spent there and wish you had more time! While you are there, ask for directions to the Original Oyster House nearby as you will be able to sample some of the best Gulf seafood ever!!!!!

OR - if you are planning to spend the night in Mobile, I would suggest the Battle House Hotel if you have the extra cash to throw around. From the Battle House hotel, you can see the USS Independence being fitted up if it hasn't already been commisoned yet and it is very close to the USS Alabama.
