no just a newbie so I am slow thank you sir!

Just a couple quick questions.....

This map is for planning purposes only? Can one use it for the game map? If so will existing saved games be compatible. If playing a PBEM and assuming it is compatible as a game map would both parties have to have the same map?
Thanks sry for all the newbie questions.

Yes, please tell us which map it is.

The map is in a jpg version in post-74 earlier in this discussion file.
A playable Tga-file version (Zoom2) can be downloaded from my site
www.mannaberg.se. Same thing with the also playable frontline-date map.
The "planning map" or "Operationskarte" adds more geographical or historical
names from several Deutsche Lagekarten from the war. Also a bit more detailed coastlines
at some places. Nothing is changed regarding game play.Added names are coloured otherwise
so its easy to see which names that are not in the game engine.
The frontline map has consecutive fronts and dates so you can in zoom 4 compare to history

And one more question (loving your work btw):

In the south can be found the word "ferry" on several places along major rivers. Do they have any purpose, that slipped my mind, or is that just eyecandy? If it's the latter, the German word for ferry would be Fähre.

Hi!
When testing AI-play I wanted to get maximum clarity. (In my opinion.)
I changed the units in the max zoom level ( units 44*44) to show bigger area of formation colour and just big identification text.
Air units have a plane picture. SS elite units black/red and Guards-elite red/black
Routed units have another sign and units that are unmoved/ partly moved / or finished
moving have to the upper right a green- / yellow- / resp no sign.
So, no real mod ( just units at max zoom level) but I upload it so you can try if wanted. Keep the original file.
Regards,
Goran

Hi!
Just eye-candy for the sake of information.
What is still worse is that in some cases its important information
with ww2 reality, ex rail ferry at Cherson and Astrachan
and in other cases more unimportant auto ferrys.
I probably will rename those latter apart from changing all to German language.

Goran

Hi!
There was a question on my email about the other map, the frontline-date map. I thought it was in a jpg-version uploaded somewhere but I cant find it.
So here it is.
Can be downloaded in playable tga-version. You can whenever you want change to zoom level -4 and compare your game situation to the historical one.
Frontline dates are consecutive. Small blue numbers are date of German occupation and red are Soviet retake. Covers 41 to spring-43.
Regards,
Goran

Hi again!
Probably a good idea.If you dont succed with the new try I could think of uploading to my home site
the folder Zoom2_nogrid with the 63 tga-files without making a zip-file and with the correct name.
Then you just have to replace the game Zoom2_nogrid with the new one.

Hi!
I have updated the 13 and 14 tga-files inside the fully playable " Operationskarte".
The area has importance regarding the Demjansk pocket.
Here is an ex. (14th tga-file) as jpg.
Just take the zip-file ( with the tga-files) in next message.

Goranw, I installed your map. It is really a work of art! It really has the look and feel of OKH operation maps.

Great job.

Goranw, just discovered your maps, looks like they could be useful.  Thank you for a great job.

BTW, were you involved in drawing the maps for Road to Moscow?  Shame it became vapourware.

Hi!
I followed the development of that game with great interest but I was not involved in the map.
The map is still one of the best but the game was too ambitious in its goal for that time.
