Dekshi....it's a strong name, I have asked him personally to secure Halmat 5 back for me from the clutches of Kiadians.

The Mortalen culture hates weakness. The Herbivore King has disappeared, the likeness to my new pit slave is purely coincidence.

I think Mortalens forgot that you should never underestimate your enemies. [:)] Those railguns did a number on the main fleet.
Naxilians really pulled a discreet backstab on you. Sneaky gits.
Looks like the ancient alliance has got new ships too, which is great. Also, YEAH for the galactic newsnet!

I like the way you seem to have tried to surround the Kiadians with two areas of influence, too bad it's backfired and your new world is surrounded by three enemy territories [:D]
Edit: (Referring to page 2, didn't notice there was a page 3) [:D]
Question for you:
Now you have two seperate territotires seperated by the Kiadian territory, will military ships left on automatic fly through the Kiadians territory if they for example want to patrol your new colony or a mining base over there? Does flying through enemy territory cause diplomatic issues, I'm aware of the new fueling rights treaties, but what about military passage?

Flying through can't possible be a problem, can it? It would be a pain for the human player, and totally ruin the AI, I suspect.
Watch the human with lots of colonization tech split the hostile empire in two...

^That.
Also, how would anybody physically restrict travel of spaceships over areas spanning 10 to 1000 lightyears? Tech like that would be so over-the-top advanced and powerful even in a space opera like DW.

DW doesn't use point-to-point jumpgates/wormholes etc. so it is much more like a vast three dimensional ocean with scattered islands. Peaceful powers would probably recognize a concept like the "high seas" for transit and even those claiming an exclusioinary zone over their swathes of space would need to be able to enforce their claim with warships. The 3 mile limit originally evolved in relation to the range of land-based artillery that could engage passing ships. Fighting over "economic zones" (gas and mining rights) in unoccupied systems would be more likely, as it is today.

I didn't mean a physical restriction, I meant diplomatic issues. For example, imagine a German army marching to Spain, would France allow thousands of armed Germans to trapse through their country unannoucned, probably not, thats the kind of thing I mean [;)] Instead they would take a long route, across the sea or something to avoid marching armed forces through a neutral country.
Edit: I should probably point out this isn't a feature request! I'm just wondering if I have colonies on either side of another Empire if I'm going to get lots of messages about removing my military from their territory, since territory no longer means just systems, its a whole sphere of influence covering open space now.

Point taken. [:)]
I've said this many time, but I think that relatively huge size of the galaxy apply certain changes to the concept of territorial ownership. Just my two rupees.
The current border system works nicely for DW and I personally don't have problem with other empires military ships trespassing on my territory as long as they don't loiter on my systems.
Anyways, MOAR AAR!
