I haven't read the whole of this thread but have to agree the fonts could do with enlarging/changing.

The problem is it is not as simple as that, text may not fit in the same sized area causing problems similar to that in WitP's alt font, with text missing at the end of lines, text appearing over other text etc. You can make the windows bigger but that will require major work on the game design.
