I don't want to be a spoiler here, since you've just ordered the book, but in at least one case "Widder (Schiff 21)" vs. "Davisian", British sailors were THOUGHT to be seen running towards their ship's 3.7cm and 2cm AA guns, after her boats had started to lower.

In any case, his trial is controversial, and I think many cases of "I saw this/he saw that", while maybe true, maybe not, were used as gospel in the trial.

Just one man's opinion.

I think on the whole they were honorable men, many having served in WW1, that were playing by rules the rest of the world had shelved.

It is a real enough counter, but small, so I had made the copy so I could get a photo. It is from a Squad Leader (AH) add-on, "Crescendo of Doom" I think. I play tested for Avalon Hill then, perhaps forty years ago, and they were kind enough to put an officer counter in the next game with my name. This was something they tried to do, and it was a thrill to find it in the counter mix.

Muggenthaler - German Raiders of World War II.

Like a little slice of a chivalrous bygone age in WWII.

Sounds weird I know, but most of these officers were true gentlemen.

Sounds like a very good read.

"Flashback" is great stuff, and you will like it, but if you start to falter it just gets better as it goes along. He is a wonderful author, "Terror" is very, very good. I have "Black Hills" in my pile too.

Lee Child is a big favorite of mine too. You would like Dan Simmons' "Joe Kurtz" novels too. They all start with "Hard" : "Hard Case", "Hard Freeze" and "Hard as Nails". Joe is ex-MP too, and he and Reacher are both tough. Joe is further toughened by 12 years in Attica.

I'm in book overload at the moment - so many on the go I can't keep up.

Today I saw a book on London and the V-weapons. As my elder brother was evacuated in 1944, away from London down to Devon, to get away from these terror weapons I thought that looks interesting. Its got really good references to fingers crossed it doesn't disappoint.
