Elsewhere, Torsten's subs continue to scare the bejesus out of the Japanese High Command,
several ASW TF's are despatched to the landing zones, a few grenades get chucked out of some planes,
and Dadjangas falls to Imperial Japan.

Not too bad so far.[:D]

The game is cooling down, somewhat.

With the majority of his forces onshore in the PI, there's not much to do for my surface combattants that are left in this area. Many of them need repairs, others need updates.

Still, the encounters were very successfull. While I've lost an old US CL with a top speed of just 24kn, 3 DDs and a couple of PGs, he has lost one pre-Dreadnought BB, a modern CL and a few DDs.

Especially the lost BB is nice!

It is categorically denied the Katori has been sunk by the Yankee dogs.
Katori is on a long good will cruise off South America ( Eastern Seaboard ), and will be off the Navy list's for some unspecified time.

End of Turn 17

Well it seems to be still going to plan [:)], although the troops at Wake keep shock attacking while they unload.....I can't seem to switch it off.

My submariners keep drawing pay under false pretences, and I can't seem to find Katori.........

The Great Manchurian Adventure is still in full swing, and China looks ripe for destruction.

'We only have to kick in the door, and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down'
Now where have I heard that phrase before....????

USNews: Jap mass Harakiri?

For three days in a row, Japanese troops storm ashore on Wake Island, just to be beaten to death with cooking spoons by marine reciep finding team that was on the island to discover new recieps.
Yesterday, one of our reporters came ashore, seeing thousands of dead japs lying in front of the field kitchen.

USNews: We are here on Wake Island with Sergant Miller, Chef of the marines reciep finding team. How is working out new recieps going?
Miller: Quite difficult. Actually, we are beating down so many Japs, that its hard to fiend and herbs that aren't spoiled with jap bllod.
USNews: Oh! What do you do?
Miller: Well, what can we do? We tried the herbs anyways...
USNews: And? How did it taste?
Miller: To be honest: Quite good. I thing the Japanese blood gives our goulash quite an interesting taste. In fact, the Privates Can Stephens and Nibal Stephens, twin brothers btw, even suggested to add some Japanese meat to improve the flavour.
USNews: That is... frightening! Btw: This grilled leg of mutton tastes fantastic!
Miller: Have you seen any mutton on the island?
USNews: No, but it really is fantastic. I guess I will take some more home, you really are a great cook!
Miller: Thank you Sir! We are doing our best!
USNews: Anything you want to tell the audience at home?
Miller: Yes, send more Japs!

Turn 18

The Tokyo Daily Mail

.....Hot off the press....

Lieutenant Colonel T. Dohibara is recalled from 1st Inf Div's important assault on Wake, after the CinC read his evaluation and finds he is only fit for rear duty assignments,
and is immediately replaced with Lieutenant General M. Nakazawa, the 'Manchurian Tiger'.

Dohibara is put in charge of the 23rd Mobile, no make that Static Sushi Engineer Corps.

Dummerkopf!!

Dohibara, you are sacked....better still, someone take him outside and beat him up.

Better still, take me outside and beat me up!! That is just amateursville!!!!

Elsewhere the Cabinet deny that there is anything going wrong at Wake Island.
'We have already taken it, with few casualties', said the Prime Minister Okuma Shigenobu airily, and he added, 'there is no truth whatsoever in the rumour that there are mounds of dead at Wake.
Alot of soldiers are lying on the beach as space is limited. The sound of gunfire comes from our glorious troops practicing their markmanship!!'
