Guys,

Does this patch do anything to address the native 1920 x 1080 issue cited earlier in the thread or is it all game play fixes?

Some of the feedback above indicated that the Windowed mode was far too small as well.

Thanks

No there is nothing that can be done about the screen resolution.

Game play fixes only.

I thought so.

Another 50 bucks I won't drop unless Matrix spends some coin itself to get it updated so it plays conveniently on modern systems.

Thanks for your answer Warshipbuilder.

DonCzirr,

If you're looking for something similar to BTR to play on a modern system, keep an eye out for War Of The Skies to be released next year.

Screenshots are above.

Thanks Morganfour - I will.

To scratch my Air War itch, I actually went slumming to Panzer Campaigns Sea Lion and Order of Battle but this is like eating Steak-ums with freezer burn when you want New York Strip.

Is this War Of The Skies a Slitherine / Matrix production?

And will there be an option for Battle of Britain?

So - how do you guys handle this?

Run dedicated sessions at 1024 x 768 and then when done set back to modern / higher res for other Apps and programs?

Or do you run it Windowed? If it's running in a Window, is it large enough to make out all the text and images?

Also - does task switching work for you? In the tech section someone had mentioned distorted fonts after switching back and

forth between the game and other programs.

It was me, the only solution I found to this was to play windowed 1024*768 res.

With anything different rest the game didnt work properly, at least in my case

How was that?

Were you straining to see graphics / text?

Any issues switching back to that window if you went off to check mail etc and then came back to the game?

I know the feeling well :)

No, this is an independent production headed by myself.

Yes the BOB will be included at a later date along with other areas of operation such as Africa once the main game is released.

Its still in alpha stage at the moment but 85% of the mechanics are completed and its mostly a case of improving the UI, models and FX.

The current website is down for a re-design but should be back up next month so I'll post more info closer to the time.

A lot of you have probably read Erik's announcement by now and have assumed game development is dead. This is not quite the case yet. We are actively testing Harley's last patch to see if it works. Once we are convinced that it does not cause any in game conflicts, computer crashes, etc. it will be released. Be patient, you all have done a fine job of waiting this long, so a little longer won't hurt will it?[:)]
How is this project going? I've been working on editing map locations to better match geographical reality and I'm wondering if this "last patch" changes any of the data?

Also will it be compatible with the injected .dll (alter ego) mod that fixed the replay graphics, turn-around bug, and added the lockscreen function (not to mention an in-game message reader...)?

Thanks!

"How is this project going?"

Slowly.

"I've been working on editing map locations to better match geographical reality and I'm wondering if this "last patch" changes any of the data?"

No map work being done, interested in volunteering? PM me.

"Also will it be compatible with the injected .dll (alter ego) mod that fixed the replay graphics"

No. Up to Harley, if he has time to fix any of this. The main focus of the group is as stated, to see if this patch is good to publish. There will be OOB adjustments and aircraft data tweaking. Also considering adding the Spitfire XVI to the mix and aircraft load out options.

"turn-around bug"
Testing so far shows it appears to be fixed.

"added the lockscreen function"
Again, up to Harley.

"(not to mention an in-game message reader...)"
No. Creeper's is compatible with the game, and again a time thing.

Hello and sorry for late answer, with windowed resolution there is no problem at all.

Only thing is that you see everything smaller. Not alt+tab problem in fonts

Thanks for that feedback Verdugo. Aging eyes may not work too well with that.

I am tempted to give it a try but perhaps not at this pricing. Winter and Matrix Winter sale are coming ... eventually

Maybe onto that list it will go. Good to know that it does not warp the graphics or fonts though.

What about fixing some of the game play issues, such as the issues with ground combat and bombing oil being ineffective as a tactic?

See previous answers about limited time. That will probably have to wait until there is a completely new game at some vague point in the future.
bombing oil being ineffective as a tactic?

THAT I would like fixed. AE's mod for the current version of the game takes care of that. Unfortunately it does not work with the patch.

Just wondering if there is anything new to report about this patch project? Or has it been abandoned because of tech and time issues?
