Please let us know if this works, I have really enjoyed this mod but found that the FTL speed reduction did pretty much gimp the AI.

I'm working on tweaking it right now, I'll hopefully have something tested and up by start February.

So if you don't intend to update it again?

Sorry man, I must've missed PMing you, I'll be on the safe side and remove all the ships from StarSector shortly.

A new upload has been submitted to Moddb (might take up to an hour to be available) with all fuel consumption for hyperdrives halved, see the first post for download link.
This version is with standard Distant Worlds ship models.

Also I'd like to pass on the torch to any interested in taking over or merging this with Bacon's mod, no need to credit what you take from this mod. Currently I consider this mod finished, as I don't play Distant Worlds anymore or really intent to return to it.

thanks Rosbjerg for all your hard work on this GREAT "DistantWorlds: Universe" mod [&o]

just to be sure: is version 1.3 the last downloadable one, the one at which you refer on your last quoted [see above] message ?

I downloaded your mod and can see that the folders in the mod were modified 27th January 2019..... so I assume this is the latest version of the mod.

on the down-load site ModDB it correctly say: New Dawn Final Version

on the first page of the New Dawn thread on the Matrix forum is still indicated as:

Download current version 1.3

Deleting MyPolicy and base_dialogue files and disabling events totally got me rid of crashes. Although, someone should look why events cause crashing...maybe typo mistakes?

I think there was some issue about art assets that were thought to be free to use but the creator came and demanded that they be removed. I don't know why just the art assets weren't removed and the rest left up though.

Just so everyone knows what happened with the mod.......

On the 19th january 2019 MesoTroniK left the following message regarding the use of ships in the mod.

Hello this is MesoTroniK, I make mods for Starsector.

Please do not use my content without asking for permission first, I also advise this in general unless the license for said mod explicitly states this is not needed. Also in this instance because you need to modify the assets so heavily to fit this game? I will never allow such use, so I respectfully request you remove my content from your mod.

On the other hand, this mod doesn't appear to have been updated for a long time. So if you don't intend to update it again? I will allow my content to stay in it, but if you update it again? I please ask that you remove it as part of that update.

You can also see the high-quality character portraits were taken from Eve Online as per Rosbjerg's post in 2018 in another topic where character portraits were being discussed......
I've added a bunch in my mod, taken from EVE online, you can just copy-paste the leaders txts together and copy the images into whatever mod you want - and get ~100 unique human portraits.

The Eve Online developers no doubt saw the video on youtube of New Dawn.

As Eve Online is very much still an active game their developers have obviously made a complaint early this year against the use of the characters in another game and they would not have been happy with that post where Rosbjerg was saying just copy those 100 images from Eve Online into other mods. The Eve Online developers have no doubt asked for the complete removal of the mod immediately.

I still don't understand why the portraits and other assets couldn't just be removed and replaced with the normal DW assets. They're far from integral to the mod.

He may have been asked to take down his mod completely or face legal action.

Hey guys, it was simply deleted because it was a smoking mess, that just wouldn't work, no matter how much I tried to fix it. I also got a lot of flak from users via PMs, and coupled with the messages rjord1 referred to... It was just a frustrating experience, that I needed to purge from my life.

But if any of you have a copy, you are more than free to circulate it and/or develop on it. No need to give credit to me. I never got any cease and desist orders, so there's no legal problems.

And thanks for the interest, I appreciate that you guys enjoyed the mod :)
