I think they have releasable info now but are probably waiting for the current crop of space empire games to fade away. We just went through a pretty active cycle and there are only so many of us to go around to raid wallets. Picking the right time to release info once everyone is bored and looking for a new fix could score massive free advertising especially if they are close to a beta.

Shocking how they just let this game die.No gameplay diares,screenshots anything years into development.We dont even know if its being worked on now.Elliot might have quit and making a IPhone game.

There are indeed many, many games that have a larger development team than we do. However, it's probably more fair to compare this to the development of DW1 + all the time that went into the development of the expansions. By that measure, we are way ahead of schedule. [;)]
With that said, I know you are all impatient for news and an eventual release. I can only say that we will release it when it's ready, but I hope we will have a lot of news for you well before another year has passed.

Quite, I can second that it definitely hasn't just been quietly ditched, DW2 is in active development.

During DW1 + expansions development, a number of the people who frequent these boards were part of some sort of confidential testing community, and had access to dev builds before things were ever unveiled. They never overtly admitted it, but they made enough comments to make it clear that it was the case. I suspect it's also true for DW2, in which case he (and others) may not be speculating.
And no, I'm not part of any such community myself, but it's clear that it's how DW development has gone in the past, so there's every reason to believe that such strong comments that it's being worked on may come from positions of actually knowing. [;)].

When we are ready to share more information, we certainly will, but the truth is that at our scale diverting attention to promotion and diaries at this stage would detract from development and extend the timeline further. There will be a time for that, but we're not quite there yet. I understand that you would all like to know everything, but from past experience it's really best for us to share more abot the game when we are ready and have our ducks in a row. We haven't officially announced DW2 yet and you won't be able to miss it when we do, but I can assure you that Elliot and I have been working on the next in the DW series and I believe it will be the best yet, by far.

The new 'Utopia' update for Stellaris is due for release soon, it looks to be very substantial. With the rate at which Stellaris is being improved on I'm thinking DW2 will have some serious competition by the time it gets released, which is a good thing though because it encourages new ideas and innovation. I really hope DW2 hits the mark.
Any clue as to when those ducks have lined themselves up yet?

I have closely followed many, many game devs in progress, and I whole-heartedly understand this position.
That being said, man I can't wait. I hope a beta program will be available, I'd love to contribute. DW:U has forever set the gold standard in Space 4X gameplay depth. I've yet to see anything that comes close, and believe me I've looked. You guys do amazing work. Keep it up.

I check often but I doubt the official announcement will be in this thread. It will get its own topic and such I would think.
Still, every time I see new post in this thread I get slightly excited and then disappointed, just like I'm sure what I'm doing to other people by making this post
