Adolf Hitler is made aware of a dastardly plot by Denmark to invade Germany. The Fuhrer has no choice but to order a pre-emptive attack on the warmongering Danes.

No other declarations of war or alignments.

Yeah I know, these Danes eh? Who'd a thought it? The US (throw of 7) are not in the slightest concerned. FDR announces to congress "Herr Hitler is fully justified in taking such action, having discovered the foul Danes evil plot". I think the US President needs a better intelligence network.....

5/6ths of the Danish merchant fleet are on an away day to sunny Reykjavik, while the rest of the navy are anchored in Frederikshaven in the north of the country. The King orders the army to stand down - there is no point in spilling blood for a hopeless cause.

Land: Germany
Combined: Italy and Japan

The discontent between the IJA and the IJN continues to rumble on. The army, keen to exploit the victory at Chengchow, wants all effort put into operations in Northern China. The navy wants to put to sea and sail up and down a bit - but in the end a compromise is reached that satisfies neither party....

Port Attack: None
Naval Air: The Luftwaffe send some long range Zerstorer into the North Sea.
Naval Movement: The old cruiser Idzumo is ordered to the China Sea to escort troop transports loaded to the brim with troops

When Danish ships are aborted, send them to Northern Ireland if possible. If not possible, then any good port in UK.

The Royal Navy spot bogeys in the distance - do they want to initiate combat?

Yes please. Use one of the French ships actually.

No additional planes from Allies.

Naval Interception: The CAP spots the German fighters and the Heinkel He-115c floatplanes they are accompanying (search rolls 3 and 1 for Allies and Axis respectively).

What do the Allies want to do?

Naval air combat. Both fly as fighters, Gladiator is front fighter.

AllenK is not around to ask so I will make an executive decision here. If I fly the Me-110C as a bomber it reduces its combat effectiveness by one (giving an advantage to the FAA). I will therefore order it to fly as a fighter. I hope that is okay.

Allies 6 (AA) The Allies choose which unit to abort

Air to Air Combat (cont):

With the bomber aborted and no advantage in the A2A ratings, the Germans decide to abort. The North Sea has been a most unproductive area of operations for the Luftwaffe this turn.

Strategic Bombing: None
Ground Strike: None
Rail Movement: I assume this is a bug - the ARM in Warsaw cannot be railed even though there is another ARM in that hex and so the Polish CAV should not be stopping it?

Japan
The 3rd Infantry Division occupies the port of Wenchow.

Over to AllenK for the rest of the impulse (Japanese/Italian orders to follow on the private thread)

CAV has ZOC so ARM cannot be railed through Lodz. It could be railed using southern route, but Axis does not control all those hexes.

Same thing happens with resources. Supply goes through ZOC if there is a friendly unit.

The ZOC shouldn't matter as there is a German unit there but I forgot to check the hex control [8|]. That is the answer - the Germans never went through Poznan (west route) or the two hexes between Krakow and Lodz (southern route).

RAC 11.10
Your rail move can only enter or leave a hex in
an enemy ZOC if there is a friendly land unit in
that hex both before and after the rail move. Its
move must stop when it enters an enemy ZOC.

Actually that can be read two ways. Does the first part take priority over the second part or would the German unit have to stop in Lodz (even if the rest of the route west was clear)?

I believe Germany can rail ARM to Lidz but not further because of ZOC.

If I'm wrong Germany should be able to rail ARM to northern Poland ports.

It means you can't rail last unit from city or rail unit to empty city. Rail move always stops to ZOC. That is how I understand it.

Agreed. It doesn't mention through.
